Re: First upload/post: 12Bar B-flat Blues

:welcome: Eric, There are many of us here in our first few years of learning to play - and we warmly welcome another. What a terrific range of musical ideas you have in the pieces you've posted! I just been playing for a couple of years and I'm very envious of the progress that you have made ...

Re: Born under a bad sign

Thanks, Kalle - that looks like a great site. I didn't know there were backing tracks available with the original singer on them. Great stuff!

Re: Born under a bad sign

Hi Michael, I think your playing sounds very good. You don't give yourself enough credit for your ability with call and response. I would be interested to know how you get the tracks you are playing over. It sounds like it is really Albert's voice. Is it possible to buy Albert King recordings with t...

Re: Love in Vain Blues

Well, we kind of put everything into this project. We used a few different electric guitars, a couple of different acoustics, a resonator, a drum machine - everything but a washboard. Strummer was our Project Manager. He conceived the structure of the song, pulled it all together and did a great job...

Re: Martin 000-28 Pickup Installation

When I first read your description of the project I expected to see maybe a small, hand-held, battery operated Dremel tool with microscopic router bits. :oldie: But when I saw the photo with the hand reamer, the rat tail file, the giant bits and the utility pliers - I blanched. Surely, I thought, BB...

I think you have more drama in a week up in the mountains than we have down here in a month. :yikes:

It's good that you happened to be going by and stopped.

Hope the guy comes by later and offers a thank you - or maybe buys you a beer.

Re: Bear in the yard...

Blindboy - that's something I'd love to see video of. There's something comical about bears. Too bad they're so dangerous. Strangely, I don't remember the old Lone Star commercials. I know the beer very well. There may be a reason that I know the beer but can't remember the commercials.... I have tw...

Re: Fender Super Champ XD no work

:welcome: You can generally get good advice on any subject on this forum. 12bar has the best advice. Get it fixed under warranty. I'm not a amp technician but used to work on tube radios, etc. back before the transistor was invented. So don't take anything I say very seriously. The reason a tube glo...

Re: Bear in the yard...

I don't have anything as dramatic as a bear - most of the critters in my yard are in the cute category. Here's a few: This is part of a family group of nine deer - including three spotted fawns. Very common in this part of Texas. Deer.JPG A young red tailed hawk has been coming into the yard. Anothe...

Re: Bear in the yard...

Yikes! Time to move in to Albuquerque. The fires around Texas haven't come very close to my house - but this record drought is driving the creatures out of the woods looking for water. The creek that flooded my house a year ago is now bone dry. My yard backs up to the woods so I put a black plastic ...

Re: New Martin Alert!

I think you're going to love it. Hope it gets there soon and in good shape. :fingerscrossed: I played a Martin 000-28ec at a Guitar Center about two years before I retired and knew it was the guitar that I wanted. It took a few years before I got the resolve to buy it. I've had it a couple of years ...

Re: It's Burnin' Down In Texas...

Thanks for the good wishes, Guys. In my town the fires are not immediately threatening the way they were up in Blindboy's area earlier this year. :phew: But the smoke cloud can be seen on the horizon. Hundreds of homes have been destroyed in areas nearby. :wall:  I know that Tytlblues, Lzyblu...

:welcome: , simon - this is a great forum. Don't be concerned about age. I'm pushing 70 - and I'm just a beginner in Blues guitar. Every skill level and every age seems to be well represented here. After listening to several of your songs on SC, "Come On Honey" jumps out as an early favori...

I got the Mississippi hill country vibe as well. A little Junior Kimbrough meets blues-rock. I liked it a lot. It could really be a winner.

Blindboy - I agree with the other folks. :handshake: I got Hendrix right away. I didn't know the song but I could clearly hear Jimi's chords and phrasing in your playing. :oldie: I've listened to the original now through VB's posting of the YouTube clip and I like your take better. Super job ...

Oh-oh, now you have really started something, Bb. :yikes: I'll admit that there was a brief flash of feeling flattered - and then the realization that I am neither cool nor a proper guitarist - yet. :alright: But I would nominate Bad Blues Player, Blues 2 Move, Blackhorse and many others that are mo...

Re: Forest fire danger in the Southwest...

I think that when you can see the smoke from your front porch - that's too close! I'd be way too nervous to sit and pick guitar while I watched the fire. Hope the fire stays away from you Bb and that you can start uploading that Saturn. Your gear is probably complaining about cramped quarters. I gue...

Re: In pursuit of recorded tone (again!)

I just got Guitar Rig 4 Pro (50% off sale) and I'm completely buried in the possibilities. I don't know that much about tone to start with - so I guess I should see this as an opportunity to learn. Do we have enough Guitar Rig users to start a separate thread? I think HBL and a couple of others trie...
