Re: Audacity Question
I use ProTools regularly, but I wanted a free and quick recorder just to add guitar to backing tracks. I am using a rockman line out into my computer's mic inout. It sounds great, the only problem I have is the sound level difference between record and playback. If you are not having this problem th...

Audacity Question
I get a big difference in volume between my recording and playback on guitar tracks I am trying to record. Am I doing something wrong? Lets say I get everything set up to record in Audacity, especially level on the backing track and the new track I am recording. I record a track. Then - just to play...

Re: Teach Me A Lesson
My experience was that i took lessons when I was eleven and I got so far, basically learning things like how to count (always tap your foot, etc) and understanding rhythm. But that only took me so far. Then a couple years later I met a friend who was self taught but he knew chords, which I did not k...

Re: Mannish Boy Blues collab anyone?
Nice mixing 12Bar... I didn't know the protocol for mixing. I though you probablyu stripped the solo off as a separate file and imported in into the backing track. I made it clean on a separate track so you could do that. That's just my old days as a recording eng-ga-kneer coming back on me (see, th...

Re: Kossoff Collaboration
Well - I appreciate you both giving it a go. it is funny bercause blues is not really my thing, although I appreciate the people who can do it. I came to this site originally because it said "Eric Clapton" and he did a lot more than blues. Now it is the 12-bar site. In any case - I think y...

Re: Claptonesque
Cool - I'm glad you like it. No posted here for quite awhile.
If you guys happen to record any of your playing please upload it here so I can hear it. The thing about this song is that there was never much of a solo recorded and I think it is a great song to solo to.

Re: Recording guitar with backing track
Well, I tried a couple of programs that say they "capture" the output of the soundcard but neither did. I am betting it is a windows 7 issue because apparntly the sound is processed somewhat differently. So, now I have Audacity but I am getting latency, plus a big disceprancy between the r...

Re: Welcome
Hey Jim - I just read your post about the comment your DW made after your jam session. Believe me, I completely understand how a simple comment can ruin an entire experience. People often don't get over them for days, weeks or months. I just want to tell you I sympathize, but just be happy you have ...

Re: Recording guitar with backing track
I guess I might just try audacity. It just seems a little redundant when I already know Protools and have a full rig. It is just a hassle to fire it up (its a custom built computer with an external hard drive and a 12-channel mixer, powered speakers, two monitors, etc.) My Protools music hard drive ...

Re: Dumb Question - Can't hear guitar
Thanks, I already do that. I was just wondering if there was a any program specifcally made for recording guitar with backing tracks. I just got my guitar plugged into my main computer and it sounds pretty good (Rockman), but when I record me playing to a backing track only the guitar records.

Re: Dumb Question - Can't hear guitar
What is funny is this - Windows 7 has a very common latency problem with live sources, so I had to solve that, first, once I got my mic input working. That was even harder, but now I can play along to Windows media and even record my playing at the same time. I just haven't figured out an easy way t...

Re: Turnarounds... I am no good with them
weelie - what you need to do is find the V-note. Here is the A pentatonic scale a c d e g the V-note is the E so, when in the turnaround play that note as the center if your riff. I usually do something like 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------...

Recording guitar with backing track
Hey all --- On this computer,I want to be able to hear and record my guitar with a backing track. I plugged my Rockman into my mic input and it sounds good. Any suggestions on a simple program, or Windows 7 setting, where I can record my guitar and a backing track through my computer? I know most of...

Kossoff Collaboration
Someone said Paul Kossof was one of their fave guitar players and I agree - so I upload this end part of a song - it is just the end jam so no copy probs - and I think it would be cool if everyone jammed to it and posted. It is short so I can just loop the solos when done if you want. if is a great ...

Here is mine - not real proud of it but it will do... Of course it is stereo with the solo on one side for synching purposes.
