That's a great song, the bar just keeps getting higher on here!
The vocalist is exceptional, the song and playing is great all round and the recording quality and production is pretty much perfect. Very authentic blues, especially the harp, and catchy too. Looking forward to hearing more!

Re: Man Behind the Mask - again
Thanks Tytlblues, glad you liked it. It's always great to hear positive reviews from guys here, fellow guitarists with great taste! :handshake: VB, thanks for link to the previous version. I'm in the same situation when comparing the two, I know the first one so well that it takes some adjustment to...

Man Behind the Mask - again
Hi all, I recently went to a friend's home studio to record one of my songs, The Man Behind the Mask. I recorded it previously myself at home with basic gear, but this was a good chance to get a better quality recording. That older version is on this site somewhere, I got some very useful feedback f...

Re: Wendigo
I must have missed this one, too... :icon_whoknows: Such a great song and beautiful guitar. I would even think it sounds better without any drums, or at least the drums turned a bit lower. But that seems to be a matter of taste... Thanks. I've taken your comment on board, and mixed a version...

New (ish) from Fender
I haven't seen this posted here, sorry if it's been brought up before. Fender Modern Player series http://www.musicradar.com/news/guitars/fender-announces-modern-player-series-503857#!1 They look great, and the prices are very reasonable. Are they up to the Fender MIM standard, or just a new name fo...

Fantastic as always HBL - maybe even better than usual? I can't understand how you can turn out so many tunes of such incredible quality, with such regularity. My hat is off to you sir

Re: What are you listening to now?
Somewhat similar to Strummer, I've been listening to Joane Shaw Taylor's Diamonds in the Dirt, Gov't Mule's By a Thread (Warren Haynes' band, with a cameo from Billy Gibbons) and the Tedeschi Trucks Band's Revelator. Looking forward to the next John Mayer album, whenever it's released. It should hav...

Very nice, sounds like you guys are having a lot of fun!
The tone you get on the last solo, with the Tubescreamer, is exactly how a strat should sound. Excellent

Re: Wendigo
Thanks for all the kind words! Oneyedslide, I have quite a few songs in the blues room posted over the last year or more - roughly an album! Strummer, the main part is played all at once, in a kind of claw style - or at least my own way of playing like that. I play a bass note with my thumb, strum d...

Re: What gear do you regret not having anymore?
The only thing I regret selling was the first instrument I bought - a black Yamaha P-style bass guitar. It came with a hard-case, I'd started taking a few bass lessons off a friend and I was astonished that I could actually play something. I stuck with it for about 6 months before deciding I'd like ...

Re: Epiphone Sheraton?
one thing in the diff between Ibanez and Epi, Epi's do have better (although not great) pups than I's. But as I change all my pups out to Seymour's that did not matter to me. I was thinking of swapping out the pickups of whatever I end up with for better Gibson pups, but the idea of trying to work ...

Thanks VB  Strange that you should post a link to a story I've never read, by a writer I've never heard of, on a site labelled Miskatonic/Library! I'm a big fan of HP Lovecraft (creator of the fictional Miskatonic U) and although this song wasn't directly based on any of Lovecraft's work, I wa...

Re: Epiphone Sheraton?
Hey thanks for all the info, especially HBL for the soundclips. The Dot sounds great in your hands! The Sheraton is prettier imo (sorry!) but if the sound is almost the same, do I want to spend an extra €200 on prettiness? Hmmm, maybe  the Artcore is definitely on my radar, oldskoolchop. If I...

Re: Learnin the thrill is gone
I haven't seen any tab for it, but I don't think there's any need to learn it note for note to perform it. If you want to learn every note to study BB's style, though, that would probably be very useful. And you'll learn a bunch of cool licks.

Re: GAS never will Stop!........Mic'ed amps Vs. Computer
FWIW I use a mix of both. I have a Blues Jr amp, which I can play at a reasonable volume in the evening or louder during the day. I can't really crank it, but I can get it loud enough to record, with pedals for distortion. I use a dynamic usb mike, which I'm not too happy with, but it does the job. ...

I've been away from the forum for a while ( real life issues :wall: ), but I've been busy while I was away! I bought a new acoustic guitar, a Martin 000x1 AE, a small-bodied acoustic -electric with a solid top and laminated back and sides. Doesn't look the prettiest, but it's a fine guitar and sound...

Re: Chordz n' scalez..
Hi Elborgo, from my (very limited!) theory knowledge, I would use a G major scale (or G maj pent) over any Gmaj7 - Am progression, the ninth note shouldn't cause a problem. Personally I only use the blues trick of "min pent over a major progression" on standard blues progressions. But I'm ...

Re: Epiphone Sheraton?
Hi Gerd, Have you played a Dot? Is there a big difference? I've heard the neck on the Sheraton is a little smaller, I have small hands so small is good. The Sheraton certainly looks better. My local music shops are very small, they might have one or the other in one of them, but I doubt ...
