Re: Merry Christmas
I want to add my wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the 12bar family. I look forward to a wonderful year ahead. Bb, I think there are several of us who are familiar with the Souther U.S. phrase "all y'all". For the folks that don't know it, It means "everybody"....

Re: I don't know how to classify this...
I had to take a break after that one, Bb.
I hope I'm like that as I get older. And I hope there will be children in my extended family that can come to me.
That was super.

Re: 12bar hall of fame - discussion
I'd like to toss out an idea. When Blindboy nominated the Love in Vain collab (which I played on with Strummer and Golfxzq) I was embarrassed - and very flattered. As an low-intermediate player I would not rank myself so high. But I realized that the HOF should have room for pieces posted by many di...

Re: Leadbelly's "Easy Rider"
Great song, great playing, beautiful guitar. I always enjoy your postings, B2M. One reason I like blues music is because a lot of it takes me back to my young days. I can remember dancing at the teen club to the Chuck Willis version of C. C. Rider. The two best girl dancers were my science teacher's...

Re: Improvisation
I think that was a very good piece. I particularly liked your phrasing. Plus, I did hear a single bad note choice - everything fit. You seem to have done very well in the three years you have been playing. I have been playing for almost three years and I would be happy if I could play as well as you...

Re: Crackles in my amp
If the crackling is coming in through your power it's probably some high frequency transients. The blown fuse is probalby a lower frequency power spike. Surge protectors come in lots of different ratings (directly tied to price). If the surge protector that you're using seems like a step in the righ...

There are devices much cheaper than UPS systems called "power conditioners", "line conditioners", "voltage regulators", etc. Here's a link to one on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/APC-LE1200-Automatic-Voltage-Regulator/dp/B00009RA60/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1322518729&a...

Re: No Pain Without Gain
OK - I want to learn how to sound like this. I hear some of the familiar VB phrasing - but I also hear lots of cool new stuff - very bluesy. And the tone is great! Very non-VB for the most part. Maybe a little heavy on the reverb. But a really great sound. This one created a new emotional reaction t...

Re: Lazy Bone Blues (Without dist and more pauses)
There is one thing that drives me crazy about this forum. When I think I understand what a certain player can do and I understand how to measure my level of skill against theirs and I get comfortable that I know what I will hear from them - that is when they surprise me with a new sound, a new feel,...
Re: DIY Drums
DD - thanks for posting the drumming. I'm going to take it to heart and study it - but my understanding of drumming (and my skills) are currently at the level of: whack - whack - thump - whack - whack - thump. A stick and a rock for a kit would serve me well. :yikes: :wall: I suspect it's one of tho...

Re: Pracyising pauses
I think the pacing of your playing is a very good match for the backing track. Very good use of spaces.
It makes the whole piece very easy to listen to. Very good phrasing as well.
A good piece for me to study.

BBP, your singing just gets better and better. I think this is the best yet!
I think this rendition is top notch - both the singing and the playing.
Great guitar, too.

Re: DIY Drums
VB, that's interesting that you did the drumming in GP6. I have a copy of GP6 as well but I'm still learning about it. We've kind of got two topics started here: 1) Notation software, and, 2) Drum machine technologies. I've been working with Strummer and Golfxz on our collaborations and we have expl...

Welcome, Larz, from Texas.
We often us a very international form of English here - but mostly we speak "Blues" - and we all understand each other.
I'm sure you will find many good things on this forum.

Re: Hello, from Canada
:welcome: Welcome to the forum, Tom. You sound like the perfect age for this forum. In my case, I'll be 69 in a few months and only took up blues guitar a couple of years ago. But you can't tell age by reading the posts - only the level of interest, dedication and skill - and we have plenty of all t...

I enjoyed both versions. I think it's very interesting to hear different takes on the same backing track.  Well, I'll have to jump in here as well. I was going to remain quiet but my ego needs outweighed my sense of discretion. :shy:  I'd like to add another version over the sa...

I know her music well. Just one of the blues treasures that we have here in Austin, TX.
Here's another good one.

And you should check out "I Found The Lions" and "Bad Girl Blues" - for the humor in the lyrics.

Re: Cheap mic test
I'm with 12bar. The mic info is interesting and useful - but I loved the riffing! Those were some licks I will spend time studying.  There must be something about catching a really good player in an unguarded moment - really good things seem to happen. It reminds me of a topic some time...

VB - I've always loved your playing - but I heard phrasing throughout this piece that I hadn't heard from you before. Really, really bluesy stuff. I loved it!
And I'm with Bb - those gritty bends just before the end were super.
More like that! More like that!
