Re: RIP Hubert Sumlin

RIP. Loved his playing with the Wolf. So funky. Some of the solo albums were the real deal too.

Yet to read his biography, although did read the Howlin Wolf one.

Never did see "The Blues Guitar of Hubert Sumlin" instructional, I'd dearly like to check it.

Re: Less is More or Less

I really prefer the new one. I guess it's partly the tone that glues my ears to the headphones with that take. It sounds so sweet and liquid, velvet smooth.

Re: A question for all you 'lefty' players

To me, as a beginner, the left hand had the tougher job to do... so I always thought it as a cop out to claim one cannot learn as one's left handed. Do left hand classical guitars violins or pianos even exist, by the way, don't know, just asking. I am righthanded, but to me playing golf comes natura...

Re: Eric Clapton Signature Amps

No, point to point doesn't sound better, but it's more serviceable (and the old ones maybe had better parts). And one part of me believes the less parts there are in it, the better the amp sounds.

Re: Chromatic notes... how many you can play?

well it's one micro-step in my learning to play country guitar. I hardly play any blues now. If i did i wouldn't be able to add a lot of chromatics, would sound like *very* bad jazz.

Re: Chromatic notes... how many you can play?

drunk man walking sober, I like that. :D

The solo above I played direct to my Boss RC2 loop pedal, so the drums are from that, as is the tempo, didn't change the tempo. Through microcube on British setting. Just fingers and on a Squier tele

Chromatic notes... how many you can play?

I just thought of trying to fit as many different notes in solo I could. So quickly tried it, took like 5 minutes in total. Solo is 3 tracks. This is just a quick 15s country solo in open G Major pentatonic" position, and the backing is juts the G chord plus a quick D major at the end. I played...

Re: New Guitar in the 'Stable'

Nice find! I wouldn't mind a cheap strat... :)

I think the pickups might be ceramic (and maybe overwound?), which might account for the shrill tone.

I don't relly like my cut, but don't have time to iron it out: http://www.box.net/shared/zgf9ogg3lq568m752tls It has two guitars, haven't really done that kinda stuff, so I guess it gets too busy. Squier Tele and Epiphone Alleykat. Microcube on some setting, I don't know, didn't even check ...
