Re: R.I.P. Jeff
Thanks for posting that link Fenson. It shows that a good song / tune can be played in a lot of different arrangements. By a coincidence I was just watching the Jeff Beck version of this at Ronnie Scotts with Tal Wilkenfeld (then just 21) on bass. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC02wGj5g...

Re: Just a little song
Nearly a month since I last wrote on this thread :icon_whoknows: .... been very distracted with non guitar stuff I'm afraid. But probably more of that later and elsewhere on the forum threads. Sorry you had so much troubles with getting recording up and running again Gerd. I hadn't heard that ...

Re: R.I.P. Jeff
A huge shock - especially because he looked in good fettle on his recent tour.
A unique player who followed his own unique path. RIP.

Re: A sound test you've got to listen to...
I'll have to admit a bias straight away. I don't really like the sound of steel string acoustic guitars with Spruce tops (particularly Sitka) - however high quality the guitar is. Just something in the tonal quality that jars in my ears sadly - I say sadly because it has hugely restricted my guitar ...

Re: The Glass Half Empty Sadly
Thanks Gerd. :D The Focusrite is a bit more demanding on resources than my old, cheap and now ailing USB interface. So I need to remember to restart the PC, turn off the antivirus, and maybe remove a background program or two. And make sure no Win 10 updates are pending, which always cause programs ...

Re: Howdy!
:welcome: to the forum Angelo. :D I'm afraid I'm a bit of a lapsed blues player - age and arthritic fingers don;t make for comfort playing a genre that needs a lot of bends to the notes!! Blues is trickier than it would appear I agree. Easy to understand the basics and the basis of it and the blues ...

Re: My 1st 12 bar blues!
Very good playing Angelo!! I found myself undecided on which version I preferred. But when I started playing short clips of each version at at the same parts of the music I felt I was more often included to go for the first version, particularly when chords were being played. BUT, it's no...

The Glass Half Empty Sadly
Take a good tune - Welcome Whisky Back Again. Use it as a rough blueprint and make major changes to butcher and ruin it. Add some hopefully suitable synth drone to suit the DADGADesqueness. A lament for the Glass Half Empty. :tears: :music1: The Glass Half Empty Sadly.mp3 Tanglewood TW45 acoustic an...

Playing for your own pleasure ticks a lot of boxes - enjoy!
And yes, go with priorities. Good that you can leave things open for just occasional posts - you're a good man.

Re: EC welcoming Roben Ford
I listened ... I enjoyed! Thanks for posting Fenson. Shame that the YouTube comments inevitably disintegrated into warring factions liking one guitarist and not the other, or trying to turn it into a competition. Very tedious. Musicians get together to collaborate and work together - YouT...

Re: Update - offline - online
It's a real shame about the lack of traffic - with the effort and work and money you put into the site. Sorry - I'm as much to blame as any for that lack. Which is at least in part due to my having a bit of an all things guitar hiatus. Playing, recording, composing, online presence ... all in ...

Re: Currently listening to...
Normally I run a mile from the growling / screaming vocals. Many a song I've heard the instrumental start and liked it only to hastily reach for the off button when the devil-voice vocals kick in. For some reason I can cope with (some of) Epica, if it's just occasional. Guess it's the beauty and bea...

Thanks for posting Fenson - I certainly enjoyed it.
Lovely blues playing and a lot of the more lyrical and melodic aspects sprinkled in there. Nice!!!!

Thanks! Glad to see your "movie" remark, as that's what i was hoping to achieve. :D Once I'd remembered how to plug everything in and how to dial in the settings on the Vox Tonelab LE. :aha: I think I still had the atmosphere of the 'Dead Man' film in my head, with it's twisted and surreal...

New Guitsr & New Scots Tune
Hope all is well with everyone. I've been slowed down a bit recently when I god a dose of Covid. But it didn't hit too bad, though the recovery period is one of slow progress. But I'm more than happy that's all it's amounting to. Thinking ahead to when my finger joints get worse  , I've investe...
