Black and Blue Train Blues
Another bit of homespun blues. Words from 50 years ago by myself, so no copyright issues and finally got to record it on the Boss rather more recently. Guitar's the Chimera. Vocal's my usual shout stuff with each verse second line harmonized (a bit!) while the piano's an upright real one (rather a p...

Re: One for the road
Now that is very very good both technically and acoustically and not a hint of sloppiness! Well done!

Rolls and Tumbles
As it's quiet here's another BT-less and rather rough 'n' ready attempt at posting something from me. I didn't think this was PD so its been sitting in my dodgy covers directory for a while but I just checked the list here and it says otherwise. I'll remove it if it causes a problem. http://12bar.de...

Razzmatazz
Thought I’d put this rather odd one up. It’s been sitting on my Boss BR900 since just before Xmas. It comprises a simple drum beat provided by the Boss then one of my guitars (not sure which!) doing rhythm, bass via octave dropper, and a couple of ‘melody’ tracks. It’s rather a lazy effort as I’ve b...

Re: The Name Says It All, New Blues jam
Yeah ... like VB says ... if that's sloppy I wanna be sloppy too!!! Your sense of timing, not just sticking to the beat but wandering in and out of it without getting completely lost (like some of us mere mortals would) never fails to amaze me. Assuming there's a BT involved it would be handy to hav...

Re: Something
Hi Michael, This one I liked quite a lot, mainly because with previous upload (two wrongs and a right) I thought you were trying to cram too many notes in on a BT of even slower tempo. This is paced much better and also well balanced. Nice sustain control you have there too. Can't remember what gear...

Re: Blue Noise
For me this piece raises more curiosity about your musical background than anything else! First play completely baffled me but I persevered and subsequent plays (rather a large number of them!) revealed a heck of a lot of underlying skill of the avante garde jazzy type, Grapelli / flamenco component...

Re: T'ain't
Well, first of all ... "Happy Birthday"! Regarding the song, while it ain't exactly a blues, it comes across as a very competently and rather joyously done piece. Nice and tidy, like the use of double tracked vocals and fast lead guitar bits particularly. Lyrics are good and, refreshingly,...

Re: Acoustic Tribute from the Riviera
Amazing! Starts amazing, builds and builds ... and ends even more amazing. Particularly liked what happens at 1:37, 2:10, 2:30 and the run down at 3:20. Some of what you do here is, for me, reminiscent of Renbourne / Pentangle sounds of many years back. This piece is really good both technically and...

Re: Crossroads entry (Noob)
In trying to form a quick appraisal ... I'm unclear which bits you're playing (all, some) within the whole thing and also what gear you're using instrumentally and for recording. The start and end of the piece seem a bit dis-jointed, but vocals reasonable ... and there are a few competent licks tuck...

Re: Nobody's Fault but Mine - playing and singing
Personally I'd work on the second BCV sort of voice. You could experiment with different ways of expressing the same words, mess with the grammar more, make certain words more accented, and so on. You could also try (very) close-miking the vocals as that will alter the vocal tone generally. Tricky f...

Knockout!! A bit of Lolblues vocal doing straight 112 verses in there is about all I can think of as a possible bonus. Great live-sounding playing, wish I'd been there!!!

Search for a pup upgrade ...
... and found this on Youtube. My homemade is morphing towards being a Tele already so I'll see if these pups make a difference when I get them. Unfortunately I can't actually play even remotely like this guy at present!

Re: Tell Me What It's All About
Nice clean rendition. Like the overall tone ... better that I can get out of my 5-year old BR900 but in my case that's probably mostly down to the aging player and a general hatred of manuals! Well done!

Re: A Slow Minor Blues In B
Great minor blues! For me the video is quite instructive in this case particularly the way you do bends using LH 3rd finger whereas I use 2nd mostly and 3rd just flobs about being useless!!! Hardly picked up a guitar this year at all until couple of weeks ago. Fingers gone soft and all recording att...

Indeed, as VB says, great bit of blues. Personally prefer your bluesy strat sound to more jazzy renditions on other guitars.

Re: GAS - what is it that we're all chasing?
Very interesting question! For me GAS excursions arise through some lack of satisfaction with the sound I can eventually put into an mp3. The sound I personally strive for is pretty much what I can get through headphones but that ends up sounding horrible when I try to get it into a recordable forma...

Re: Linear Conchord
Hi there ... welcome to 12bar from Spain. I had a Linear Concord from new in the '60s and used it for over 60 gigs without a single problem. Loud enough for any venue. We did pubs, dance halls, hotel ballrooms, village halls, clubs, the speedway stadium and so on. I was feeding it into a single 12&q...
