Re: What's the smallest amp you're comfortable gigging with?
When guys come over to jam and we have a drummer, here's my experience: Any tube amp with (2) 6L6 or EL34 tubes is plenty big enough. These are like 35 to 50 watt tube amps. Egnater Rebel 20 - 20 to 30 watt tube amp - it has plenty of power to play with a drummer. I never had to push the master past...

Re: Les paul question
String height should be about the same for both Fenders and Gibsons/Epiphones. As long as the guitar is set up properly, you can have nice low action on both.

Re: GAS for new guitar amp
I have a Tweaker and I'm sure you'll like yours. It really can sound like most any amp, from Fender cleans to Marshall crunch & drive to heavy distortion. Be prepared to replace the preamp tubes. They ship with Sovteks and they're notoriously bad for arriving with bad tubes. When I fired up my n...

Re: Firebird X
I look at the new Firebird as a concept guitar. I don't think they expect to sell many. Like new concept cars.
I think they have to spend some effort exploring these new technologies, even if they aren't really commercially viable.
By the way, this is a cool new smiley.

Re: Shorting tube/valve
Sounds like a bad tube. No big deal - you can just replace the one bad tube with a new one with the same "rating", or you can replace both power tubes with a matched set. If it were me, I'd install a new set and keep the old good tube around for a spare.

Re: HELP making a guitar cab
Not enough info. You will probably need to know the impedance of the individual speakers in order to figure out how to wire it. It might be printed on the frames of the speakers, or you can measure it. Are these speakers the same original ones from the old cab? The amp appears to come in a single or...

Re: BBs long long note during solo, 10+secs
The note has to be fretted perfectly. Notice how he tries to do again at 3:17 and he loses the sustain after a few seconds.
My ES339 feeds back just like that but only if I hold just the right pressure on the string.
Cool!!

Re: New Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe
Thanks for the compliments everybody. I have been looking for that exact model for awhile. I never understood why they sell different models in different countries. This model is a Guitar Center exclusive model - it probably was bought at Guitar Center (a US guitar chain store) or Musician's Friend ...

New Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe
Got a new (used) LP Studio Deluxe Sunburst last Saturday. Paid about $900.00 for it. It's about a year old. It has a couple of dings in it, but otherwise is pretty mint. It hasn't hardly been played. The fretboard was really dry so I oiled it with teak oil. Anyway, here are some pix: htt...

Re: Boost my solo please!
Any kind of an overdrive pedal will work - or any pedal with a volume control. When you switch the pedal on, the volume will be boosted according to how you set the volume knob, regardless of how much overdrive you use. You can also buy a volume pedal, which just boosts the volume and has a pedal, s...
