Nine times out of ten, when a tube amp starts messing up, it's a tube. It sounds like in your particular case, since the 12ax7 isn't glowing, it's probably bad. Those tubes wear out once in awhile. Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out is an east song to learn. It uses some really common chords and it's nice and slow.

I have a 1X12 open backed cab that I use with my Egnater Rebel 20 and I'm going to put a new Weber CV 123 speaker in it. I had a Blues Junior NOS Tweed that I sold to buy another amp and I wish I had kept it. It was a pretty good amp.

Three fingers is plenty. Don't worry about it. Don't think about it too much. Just start playing and let your brain and fingers figure out how to do it.
