The 40th anniv set of LAOALS, and the dvd Stevie Ray Vaughan ... LIve from Austin, Texas - mean as music!

And the "Play the Blues" cd and dvd set by Marsalis and EC is just ... well its not my cup of tea, I"m gonna give it away for Christmas.

Hummm my two cents, listen play and then listen.

I look at EC, SRV , Rory Gallager etc, and thats simply what they did.

Re: STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN

I don't recall seeing / hearing a better tv-ad! Yeah its cool eh? SRV gained cult status down here pretty quickly, hell when the New Zealand Army and Air Force heard he was going to do the ad they quickly jumped at offering one of its tanks and infantary training grounds plus a skyhook fight...

Re: STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN

SRV was absolutely one of the greats! And it is extremely difficult to emulate him. I think he brought the blues to a whole new generation at a time when musicianship with soul was not really prominenet. On one hand you had the punk rock thing going on, on the other hand you had the lame and steril...

SRV, well what can I say? he is next to EC the best - Kings in my blues world.

SRV had a kiwi girlfriend and she was a key figure in him coming to New Zealand to do this tv ad, have a look guys,

Re: Oh, yeah Wynton Marsalis & Eric Clapton Play The Blues

As much as I have to admit that EC seems to have no musical limits, this CD is not my taste. He sings great, has some nice guitar runs, the musicians are excellent, but I don't like this sort of music. :icon_whoknows: 44 has been ruined IMHO... Fully agree!. His last record was borderline for me. I...

Re: Injury... again....

Sucks eh? I unpacked a crate today and got a deepish nail scatch on the side of my thumb, the one that holds the Jim Dunlop. I thought back to my first guitar teacher, he told me he'd never to any manual work because of these situations. Good on him I think.

Ladies and Gentlemen - The Rolling Stones.

Hi Guys, I'd like to share a few thoughts with you. I picked up a second hand copy of Keith Richard's bio "Life" a few weeks ago. I can recommend it,’s a fascinating and honest read, now I've not really digged Richard's style but certainly appreciated all the Stone's radio songs when I was...
