Re: Sitting in on a friends gig
Hey Blindboy...in that second picture it looks like you got sort of a Neil Young thing goin' on... Actually, Neil got it from me. foxy ladies invite you to come gig with them at the local wine bar. Not so local, I drove 75 miles one way to play two songs. (and had a hundre...

May not be blues, but it is quite cool. Not sure I could do anything with that at all. You have a pretty creative bone there.

Sitting in on a friends gig
Some friends invited me to sit in on thier gig in Albuquerque last night. They are a pair of very talented musicians and songwriters. On the left is Lisa, who playes cello and guitar, on the right is Becca, who plays guitar and flute. They both sing beautifully. 012 - Copy.JPG As my Casino needs str...

Re: Why does my guitar go sharp?
12bar and weelie are right; the wood in the neck and the top will be affected by temp and humidity far more than the strings themselves. Being a new guitar, she may settle down a bit as time goes by, too. When I take mine to town to play, there is a 3000 foot elevation difference. When I first got t...

VERY NICE!
Beautiful guitar. I have an Ibanez Artcore, an AF75 in tobacco sunburst. (Yours is prettier than mine ) It is a fine playing guitar. In fact, it is the one I am taking to town tonight to sit in on a friends' gig.

Re: Slow C blues Collaboration anyone?
I may have to back out. :tears: :icon_whoknows: I have gigs (I call them gigs) sunday and monday nights, and lots of stuff to do during the day (plus change strings on my Casino), and I still haven't gotten my GuitarPort to be able to talk to my Audacity. This happened after a power outage (fr...

I saw SRV a bunch of times. During "Voodoo Chile" he used to stand on his "Number One", pick it up by the neck and drop it. Made a heck of a noise through the amps.

Re: Nitrocellulose lacquer and guitar stands
Wow, I never knew about this. Maybe because I never use stands. I usually lean the guitar on my amp on stage and usually keep them in the case at home.

Favorite to listen to, or to play, or both?
There are a lot, Stormy Monday as played by T-Bone and the Allmans, How Blue Can You Get by B King, Drownin' On Dry Land by Roy Buchanan, Villanova Junction Blues by Jimi Hendrix.... the list goes on.

Re: Open Mic Blues...
Blind Boy - I've been thinking about your story and trying to visualize what was actually going on. If I have it right you were not just trying to adjust the angle where the neck joins the body - like you do with the truss rod. You were actually reshaping the curve of the wood in the neck. Right? N...

Re: Open Mic Blues...
That IS what's called "tough love" BB. Good for you - you know your guitar and don't listen to the doom and gloom merchants who'd have you taking your guitar to a tech for pretty well everything including string changes. Really like the sound of the music scene in your part of the world -...

Re: Open Mic Blues...
This guy watched me loosen the truss rod, then lay the guitar face down on the floor. I put one foot on the neck/body joint, and the other foot on the middle of the neck, then yanked up on the headstock several times. Then I flipped her over, put a foot on the body and one on the headstock and yank...

Re: A Very Minor Affair - first post to the Blues Room
As a result of the discussons of guitars and tone on this forum - and as a reward to myself for getting all this gear running and my first song posted - I've been shopping on Ebay again. I've got a used Antique Red Gibson ES-339 on it's way. I should have it by next Monday. Man, am I excited. I exp...

Thanks Jim. Yeah, playing out is big fun... as long as SOMEONE knows a song. :motz: . Tonight wasn't so hot. I did have fun listening to a guy playing "War Pigs" on my rig ('70's Strat through Fender Custom Shop ProSonic). Definately the first time any Sabbath has bee...

Re: Slow C blues Collaboration anyone?
I'm not sure (I',m not really computer savvy). It was working fine when we did the Groaning Collab, haven't used it since then. Now I get an "Error" message, saying I need to check the settings on my device or something. I get the bit rate and sampling settings lined up right, but it still...

Open Mic Blues...
Somehow, through no fault of my own, I seem to have become 1/2 of the host band at our local bar (guitar/keyboard). We have no songs in common, have never practiced together, and have no set list, but for some reason, it seems popular with the bar owner and the patrons. :icon_whoknows: Tonight will ...

Umm, I take it I have the second verse... when I load the song into audacity, the time markers don't coincide with the ones you posted.
It may take me a while to post up a part, my guitarPort is not speaking to Audacity for some reason.
