Re: In pursuit of recorded tone (again!)
I wouldn't be much of a Greeny fan if I didn't recognise the green manalishi at 20 paces. Great chord sequence and a good one to show the different sounds, they all sounded pretty good to me. Quite the bit of overdrive going too which I was glad to hear from you.

Re: Love in Vain - Early Draft
We are both Greeny nuts so you can probably predict that I love this song, you really did it justice and it all sounded very well put together. Just a thought on the vocals, when I have recorded singing in the past I use Adode Audition to add some reverb and also to amplify the volume, that way you ...

Re: See the Old Folks Safely Home
Yes music sure is wonderful, has a "As Time Goes By" sort of feel to it, very melodic and easy to listen too, once again I'm impressed by your sheer range of genres and your ability to play along with nearly all styles. Well done.

Re: Sad and Woeful
The third string on the hybrid set is wound, you basically get the three lower wound strings from the 10's and the top three strings from the 9's. as for volume, if you cant get an even sound using them you could always slightly lower one side of the pickups to compensate, thats what I did with my s...

Re: Sad and Woeful
Two great tracks, particularly like the sad and woeful, always my favourite kind of song. As for the strings you should check out Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky strings, they come with 9, 11, 16, 26, 36, 46. So you get the nice thin top strings for bending with the the benifit of the thicker third string.

Re: In pursuit of recorded tone (again!)
Totally agree, that's some great sounds your getting already, will probably take a few months to fully get to a point where your truly happy with the sound but a fun journey and I'm looking forward to hearing it along the way.

Re: Open Mic Live!
Thank you for all the comments guys, it makes my day to see some nice words about my playing. Jokron: 1. I search for backing tracks online for most of the song, there are some great sites with lots of free tracks, a good place to start is just to Google the song. 2. The PA is the pubs system, a cou...

Re: Open Mic Live!
Thanks Deacon, If I searched hard enough I could probably find a band that wanted to play the kind of music that I would want to play but I don't know many other musicians never mind ones that are into the blues. Yes I know the Bluesbreakers version too and have a backing track for it, I just prefer...

Open Mic Live!
Well as I mentioned last week in my "Another First For Me" topic I finally made the jump after much pushing from my Dad to go along to the open mic night in his local pub, as arranged we had another practice session this week too so we spent over 3 hours practicing our songs and working ou...

Thanks Gerd, yeah it was definitely the right choice of song to start off with. I for sure will take the camera next week so I can get it on film to share with you all. Funny thing I remembered, where all the gear is set up is right next to where the door that leads through to the toilets is, as I o...

Another First For Me.....
Well I went to my Dad's as planned yesterday for our second practice session, had a good three hours working through some new songs and tuning the ones we practised before, took a few videos so I will share them as soon as Dad get's them on YouTube. It was another thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and ...

Re: My First Ever Jam Session
Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated as always. The next session is going ahead tomorrow so there may be some new improved videos coming soon. There is an open mic session every Wednesday in my dad's local pub which is 100yrds from his house but I haven't quite worked up the courage to go ...

My First Ever Jam Session
Learning to play guitar has been the biggest achievement in my life so far, I've never stuck at anything else for this long mainly due to my Attention Deficit Disorder. A bit part of the condition for me is very low self confidence and lack of self esteem which has led to me being very private when ...

Going back to basics can really help you get on track, I know I always try to play this kind of song to keep my mind focused on what it's all about. Very competent playing throughout and some neat phrasing, my kind of blues, thumbs up.

Re: Heartache at C
Melancholic hindsight is how I would describe the mood of this song. Like the good times you used to have with a loved one but they are not with you any more. Tastefully done as always and a nice easy listening piece, don't have to wonder where it's going, just enjoy the journey.

Re: Jackal's Prefer Blondes
I would never have the guts to start sanding my guitar like that but the figure you revealed is quite nice. Since you have abundant energy, have you thought of doing a French polish finish or maybe a hand-rubbed oil? I thought about carrying on and going through that layer to bare wood, but the map...
