Re: Anyone up for a slow blues in G?

Tomorrow I will make time and listen to the take VB....So tonight I'm just logging in to read the replies. A tip: Create simple melodies (licks) to play along with the bass line and you'll do fine. I will be interested to hear your comments - I had another listen this morning to my attempt - the tu...

Re: Cindy Lauper Memphis Blues

Maybe there's a trend going on? :icon_whoknows: Not such a big jump as Cyndi Lauper perhaps, but from the "pop world" Sandi Thom's new album sounds a bit of a move to the blues fields. I'm not biased as she's from Scotland, and loves the early Peter Green wor...

Re: Anyone up for a slow blues in G?

http://12bar.de/community/download/file.php?id=159 It's been awhile since the last add-a-track thingy. After my intro, choose a slot and do your thing; Hope everyone is well. Have fun. Hi bflat. Great to hear the beautiful harp playing again, but it sure raises the bar for us string bashers!...

Re: Roland GR-50 : New - old gear time

Evocative, like Strummer said, and atmospheric. I can see great scope for adding colours and washes of tone to your playing with this gear. The film soundtrack comment is right too - a good film soundtrack is helping to evoke moods and underlining the emotions in the storyline. The GR-50 ...

Re: Guitarist Magazine-Guitar Recording Guide

I don't think they're related... http://www.gitarrebass.de/ You're quite right - they are different. Viking jumps to conclusions again without checking! I suppose it IS an obvious name for a guitar magazine, although the UK one came out of Guitar Magazine and Bass Magazine merging a few years back.

Re: Guitarist Magazine-Guitar Recording Guide

I guess that "Gitarre und Bass" is likely to be the same publication as Guitar and Bass magazine in the UK. Guitar and Bass is my favourite of the guitar magazines in the UK - it is the only one that mentions with any regularity the names of obscure brands like Tokai..... :aha: I suppose t...

Re: Guitarist Magazine-Guitar Recording Guide

Hi Strummer - agreed with what you've said there. Guitar Buyer Magazine ran a "Recording Guitar" section last year (around spring 2009). It ran for 4 issues and was a lot more in depth than this Guitarist Magazine one. Although I would still quibble with Guitar Buyers descriptio...

Re: World Cup

Holland are doing really well - there's a lot of high profile players who have not been much in evidence in this world cup. Arjen Robben has been very much in evidence. With Germany playing with such resolve, purpose and skill there must be a good chance of those two meeting in the final. And that w...

Guitarist Magazine-Guitar Recording Guide

Every month I think I'll not get Guitarist Magazine next month - I'm not wanting to buy a guitar just now, and certainly not one in the usual thousands of pounds range that mostly get reviewed. BUT ... usually there's something on the next months cover that I think "That looks interesting"...

Most enjoyable watching this. Really excellent music from the two of you and another insight into a wonderful musical community.  Becca sings great and there's no signs that one of you is playing electric at a gig for the first time and that one of you is on unfamiliar scales and un...

Re: Roland GR-50 : New - old gear time

I like the way you've moulded your playing style to fit a flute sound better. Now, where's that play like Martin Barre guitar book! Though you'd need to get the synth to make some snorting noises to go with the flute sound for that to work. I think you're goimg to have a lot of sc...

Re: The future of guitars

There's some interesting places your music can go with just a guitar and fx pedals of course  :-

Of course to get all the pedals to do all these things you'll need to rob a bank first.

Re: The future of guitars

This is some HUGE question and area for debate! I find it very difficult to guess where things might be in 5 years time as to guitars and their functions and features. I don't even understand where we are now, when it appears from the reviews in magazines that the trend is for limited edition...
