Johnny Winter Progressive Blues Experiment and Captured Live have been on my turntable a lot lately.

Re: What style of guitar is you favorite for electric blues?
Well after seeing EC and SRV blow away the competition in the favorite blues artist poll I figured Strats would win this poll.

Re: What style of guitar is you favorite for electric blues?
Oh I agree there isn't one type of guitar that is better for the blues. And I know many people have a Strat (single coil) and a les paul (humbucker) for different sounds. My question was more along the lines of do you have a "go-to" guitar that you feel a fits your style and gives you the ...

What style of guitar is you favorite for electric blues?
Are you a Les Paul Guy? A Strat Guy? Why do you play the style guitar you do for electric blues? Is it body shape or pickup sound that makes you choose one guitar over another. Anyone play something not normally associated with the blues (Ibanez Musician Neck Thru perhaps)? Personally, I have always...

Re: G'day and What version of "Have you ever loved a woman"
Your path to the blues and blues guitar sound exactly like mine kiwi! I was a huge 60's and 70's blues-rock fan, with Cream one of my favorite bands. That's what I love about Clapton. He has been the bridge that helped me discover the blues and to really learn about the music that I had ignored for ...

Re: Guitarist Magazine Blues Special+12bar Poll
When you see all the names listed in the poll you realize how hard it is to narrow down. My top 3: 1. Muddy Waters- Father of Chicago Blues 2. Elmore James- Everyone who plays slide owes him 3. Stevie Ray Vaughan- Brought blues back to the mainstream in the 80's I am a big Derek Trucks fan, but I do...

Re: New DVD - Eric Clapton: The 1960′s Review
I just finished watching this dvd and thought I share some thoughts with you all here. First off, there are no new interviews with Eric Clapton. Most of the interview footage of Clapton is taken from the 2005 Cream Classic Artist dvd and 2006 Disraeli Gears Classic Albums dvd. While there are some i...

Albert King and SRV In Session DVD
Just a heads up fellas. Albert King with Stevie Ray Vaughan In Session DVD is now available. I just received it today and it is fantastic. Great to see these two playing side by side with no audience...just playing for each other.
Highly recommended dvd!

Re: Firebird X
It definitely won't become a "must have". I agree with you vancouverois, a concept guitar to show all of the newest technology available. Unfortunately for sales, I think most guitarists would not be interested. Too much going on. Personally, I think it just looks tacky. Mismatched knobs a...

Re: Les Paul Project Diary
Great job guys. You've rescued a guitar that might have otherwise been scrapped. And what's even better is you got to work on it together. You should be very proud to own such a great guitar! Congrats!

Any Record Collectors Here?
I have been collecting records for a while and thought some of you guys and gals might be collectors as well. I really enjoy finding blues and rock vinyl that haven't been released on cd or itunes. It makes me feel like I really unearthed an old song, not just bought it instantly for $.99 on itunes....

+1 for Bernice... But how about "Black Betty" as an homage to Lead Belly? Now I need to name my Dot. I guess "Dottie" is the obvious one.

Re: Awesome Website 12bar!
Thanks for the welcome guys. It's cool to find a place to talk about the blues. My wife looks at me like I'm from another planet when I try to explain the difference in the "3 Kings". I just had a daughter 2 weeks ago and I am already playing blues for her. So hopefully someone else in the...

Awesome Website 12bar!
Hey All! Cool site! It is great to see a site focused on Blues and Blues-Rock guitar instead of thrash and shred like all the guitar magazines seem to cover. Thanks for all the great instructional info, too! I'm glad I found a site where others share the love of EC, Skydog, SRV, Buch and the Texas C...
