Re: Minor problem with P-90s on my Casino
Not related to P90s exactly, but I have heard people having the problem when polepieces don't line up with strings. Never really experienced it myself.

Re: Your favorite licks
I recorded a quick track with some of your faves: 1. with the latter two part riff from Cruisemates first post, 2. Strummer07's Am lick. 3. Wildwoods intro as ending, Timing is a bit off, but didn't have time for 2nd take. None are exactly and perfectly, because I just played them one each take off ...

Re: The guitar question I hate asking
Seagull...Art and Lutherie, Simon and Patrick , Norman ......all same heritage , just different brand names and market sectors .But .Same factories, similar wood stocks, similar build quality etc etc Yes, that's why I mention the A&L. Normans are not available here. The almond colored A&Ls ...

Re: The Dead Bird (a mournful blues)
I'm much less certain on the major modes - Ioanian, Lydian, Mixolydian - but then I'm not too hot on major pentatonic either. I need to work at hearing the difference between the modes though so I can know that a BT is, say Aeolian, without needing to be told that it is. Really moody track ...

Re: The guitar question I hate asking
I think the Art & Lutherie parlor is even nicer than the Seagull- It has 12 frets to body, nicer headstock, sunburst or spruce top. It's $100 cheaper than Seagull too, at least here. It's still not the perfect choice, I think. But a really fun guitar, I had one for 3 years, and sold it at the pr...

LS, I've been playing for a decade, and you are way superior than I am. Don't know what ADHD symptoms are, but I haven't been diagnosed with anything but hypothyroidism, which they say can make me tired, depressed and slow... but I know I am just very very lazy, no matter what the doctors might call...

Sweet! That is very nice. I wish I had had a loop machine when I was starting out. It would have provided endless hours of fun! (Back then, a four track cassette machine was HIGH tech) Thanks! I wish I had chosen to buy one earlier! Except they didn't have drums and they less memory a fe...

Me too. But I just don't use it my playing, except some forays into flamenco fooling around alone at home.VikingBlues wrote: I must admit that of the minor modes I am drawn towards the Phrygian
Maybe less interestingly, to me aeolian sounds like a mix of garlic and mayo.

Re: Modes
The voice sounded familiar, but it was the guitar tone that made me say: "Hey this is the intervalic CD" guy. I think those youtube links above are great for hearing the difference in the modes! But I still would always like to think in terms of relation to major scale, not the relation of...

12bar.de stuff is great, but this is what you need now:

Re: Modes
Basically a track is in a mode when the chords of the progression are made of notes of the mode. Like if you are playing in G, and you have the F chord (which is quite common), you are not playing ioanian, as that doesn't have the note F. You are in G mixolydian. Dorian is like mixolydian but it's m...

The space for my equipment is one guitar under the bed, one in stand, and the other in their cardboard boxes lying next to it. Some stuff under the desk, the only amp microcube on it. Just a very tight tiny corner, all in all. If I buy more, I need to sell something...

Re: Teach Me A Lesson
Thanks for that Pinetop vid. :) I do love blues played on multitude of instruments, the guitar isn't the be and end of it all. I sometimes try to cop something off my fave clarinet or sax players (like George Lewis, Prez etc). Haven't actually ever tried to learn from piano playing, though, even tho...

Weelie... the first thing that popped into my head when I listened to that tune is "cute"... to me that's a "cute" sounding tune, I really liked it, a real toe tapper. Interesting to hear how you used my favorite riff. Good go  I do get the "cute" reference. ...

Re: GAS Attack !!!!!! Part 2
Love the Hagström track! The tones don't differ that much on the other one, I bet the difference is greater live. Interesting that you say they are all on bridge pickup...?! You seem to "put down" the Hagström (compared to your Tokai) often, and at least the one I played in a store here so...

Thanks, Jim! I sure warms my heart that somebody has so nice words to say about my playing...! Usually for me the litmus test is listening to the track the day after I played... usually sounds a lot worse than I remember! I do like my blues smiling, swinging and sweet, not cold, hard and aggressive....

Re: Teach Me A Lesson
I've had a few teachers (none in the very first years of my playing). Learned something from everybody. One was a jazz cat, he taught me jazz chords, one was very educated, all classes where in standard notation, one just had me play the blues with him, one I just wanted to talk to cause I love his ...

Another loopy practice (inspired by Golfxzq and Art of Shuf)
My practice sessions are comprised of me playing through my loop pedal. This time I was practicing a blues rhythm thing inspired by something in the Dave Rubin's "Art of shuffle" as well as Golfxzq's favourite lick (off the 1st BYCU book). The solo take off is inspired by the lick, I mean,...
