Re: I've Got A Mind Collab?
Thanks for the comments Pena, I don't really have a clean BT for it, i just recorded the four chords over a drum track and a quick improv solo to give a first rough idea of the kind of thing i want to create. The only version i saved was the complete demo. If Gerd can hopefully figure out the rest o...

Re: I've Got A Mind Collab?
IxgY9eEFiYM When i worked out those first chords i did it by listening to the song and playing them and looked the names of them up afterwards. The intro chords can be heard quite easily so i could work them out, but then during the verses and solo they are harder to hear and my brain can't disting...

Re: I've Got A Mind Collab?
That's not too bad at all VB! Much better than i could do. My idea was just to play the bottom E string descending with the chords on my guitar which would have sounded far more amateur. I think the bass part should be very simple like the first 0:09 seconds of your demo. The kind of feel i want to ...

Re: I've Got A Mind Collab?
Thanks Gerd, I'd love for you to be a part of this. The thing that would help me out the most to start with is the chords used. For my demo I used Bm-A-G-F#maj playing only the top 4 strings but then I'm stuck. I was trying to sing along with that sequence and it doesn't fit after the first line. Ob...

Re: Hot Pickups v Vintage Pickups
I suppose a good example is the Gibson Burstbuckers vs their Classic 57's. I believe they are pretty much the same except the burstbucker is wound hotter. Better for high gain setups, i have always associated PRS guitars with heavier music (hence the mud), maybe wrongly, but i think these hot P90 gu...

I've Got A Mind Collab?
I've Got A Mind To Give Up Living is possibly my favourite blues song of all time. It's powerfully sad lyrics and melody brought a tear to my eye the first time I heard it and I have loved it ever since. The first version I heard was B.B. King on Ralph Gleason's Jazz Casual On YouTube which had the ...

Welcome to 12bar D28, i'm sure you'll find lots of useful information here and have fun at the same time. Thanks for your nice comments too. To find backing tracks the old google search usually does the trick if you are looking for a specific song. For general blues backing tracks look at: http://ww...

I didn't see any sound clips in the thread, did you ever get anything recorded with it?

I also like the way you've justified the purchase to us "Self financed by sale of surplus gear" .... that sort of camoflage you only need for your partner or your bank manager !! We don't care!! ... A nice guitar needs No justification  Funny you should say that. I tried to justify s...

Congrats on your new family member. If you want to get some good shot of the wood grain, take it outside next time there's a bit of sun. Well I actually will be starting off the process of moving to the US this year, the girl i love is up in Washington State and we'll be getting married. I planned a road trip for some point in the future that takes us right through Albuquerque which i know is only down the road from your town. So per...

Re: Peter Green On Wikipedia Incorrect??
Peter Green really is the most selfless person i've ever seen. I watched a documentary about him recently and basically he wanted to sit down with his music publisher and manager because he felt that he had borrowed or stolen some licks or chord progressions on some of his songs and wanted to make s...

Didn't sound like it affected you at all, maybe the drugs heightened your creative prowess! I was confused 'cause i'm a lefty and assumed it was your fretting hand but obviously not as your a righty. I look forward to more recordings of the band, i really enjoy listening to you guys. Just wish i cou...

Very much my kind of blues, moody with some nice fiery licks. The unusual format must take some getting used to as well.
Good to see your mishap hasn't affected your playing and has inspired you.

Funky Duck Blues
Another day another song recorded. I really like this one, was messing with the various effects and processors in Guitar Rig and came up with this really funky Auto-Wah sound. Using the out of phase position on my Les Paul it created an unusual tone that i really liked. It was also something else to...

Re: A Tribute To Gary Moore
Thanks everyone, I know it wasn't perfect but I'd done 30 takes already and this was the one with the least mistakes so I just decided it was the final take. Great guitar sound (add a tad more sustain and it's perfect) Yeah I know it died on me a couple of times, that's because I'm using Guitar Rig ...

Re: The Old Man of the Sea Collab Video Updated
I concur very professional, nice use of the video clips to set the scene to the poetic lyrics. Your style of singing suits this song too, would have been easy to over do it but your laid back approach is spot on. And it goes without saying both of your guitar parts prove what accomplished players yo...

Thanks Bmole and BB, i don't think i'm an aficionado either, i just hope i sound 1% as good as Greeny one day. And i just moved up the charts to #10 in the General Blues category! wow, really cool place Soundclick. Gives me even more confidence to carry on playing and recording Plus i spent over an ...
