Re: Thought I'd post a classic blues tune attempt
Bit late in looking at this, sorry! Nicely put together piece. Good to hear a bit of harp in there, although could be a bit more prominent (especially in a train song). Other tunes you've got on Soundclick all to same high standard, I guess you're doing all the parts yourself ... which is the way I ...

Re: The Riviera
Very pleasant to listen to. There are some particularly interesting note choices in what you do that I don't personally recognize. I went back again to Airship and listened to a few others of yours while in Soundclick ... and they all have an endearing similarity. I'm curious about what has influenc...

Re: For Losaavedra, one for you my friend!
Yup, that's the kinda blues I go for, good of you to put it up ... considering :) !!! You manage to do note combinations ... even just a pair together sometimes ... that gives me the shivers ... with (of course) to-die-for timing. Brilliant IMO. With this one (and your Lol collabs) you're also kinda...

A big "hello" from me in Spain ... kinda hot ... it's why I came not much to do, 'cept play guitar an' figure where the blue notes are. This forum is the place to be ... real friendly folk, as you'll soon see ... who know their blues, an' quick to tell, how to play stuff, really well. That...

Re: Updated 1 Mic pos.
I'm a bit late in on this one but, on thinking about twin mic positioning, I tend to believe phase cancelling (particularly of treble) comes into play if one mic is picking up what comes off the back of the speaker(s) is recorded along with what's coming off the front of the other speaker(s). Occurs...

Re: Jazz Swing Blues
Well, I WAS quite impressed! Your piece reminded me straightaway of what Gary Shaw did on Jimmie Witherspoon's "Blues, the Whole Blues and Nothing But the Blues" jump blues album (one of my favorites that I've probably mentioned before!) ... well worth a listen for this kind of thing. Most...

Re: Beyond the Box
I suppose 'boxes' serve a purpose in that, assuming we can find the key somethings in ... it then it should eventually become kinda intuitive where at least a lot of the notes are that we want to play, having figured the key out. That said, I'm not sure I actually know where all the boxes are (even ...

Methinks that's jazz man!! I don't know what I was expecting before playing it but when I did my mind was thrown back immediately to the fifties and Jimmy Giuffre's Train and the River, the tune that switched me on to jazz in the first place. If you've never heard it its worth a look in support of t...

Liked both of these, particularly Chill'n which has good tempo variations in lead across the whole piece. Nice!

Re: Ghost in my shell
Nice contemporary blues! Works! Maybe thump up the percussion a bit and (possibly) stick a bit of overdrive on the harp. Tells a story an' that's what the blues is all about ... nice one.

Re: AMinor Affair
Michael, you can play fast ... that's good. You can play blues phrasing more or less instinctively ... also good. Both these things you do better than I can. Nevertheless I think this particular piece could be improved by just varying the way successive 12 bars are attacked, so there's a rise and fa...

Hola Stefanie, big welcome from Spain. Got a tele eh!?! Not a lot of those in this place. I've always wanted one to add to my collection but my 40-year-old home-made has at least got a tele ashtray and bridge pickup!! Looking forward later to hearing what your tele does. Have fun, lovely people here...

Re: Piano/Guitar Blues in C....V2
Still catching up on posts ... IMHO this one's musically brilliant. Got an upright piano here (hard to mic up) but recently Mrs L treated me to a digital 88 key touch sensitive with MIDI and line outs etc. so eventually hope to be doing pretty much exactly what you're doing, except that the one thin...

Re: Blues in D, with Strat
The really good thing about your treatment of the blues is that the BT (I guess that was a BT in there) and what you do always seems to blend together as a complete band sound, also (importantly) you vary the suspense across each of the 12 bar groups you play in the same way a live performance goes ...

Interesting one this .. reminds me of the theme of Happy Xmas Mr Lawrence (film) of long ago. As Tom says it's good to branch out. I'm having to catch up on loads of post here after doing a trip back to UK (yet another grandson for the the collection!). Anyway, nice playing, like the thin guitar ton...

Re: If you didn't know
Following on from what Michael says ... there's free software ... unless you want the Pro version ... of YTD (YouTube Down loader and converter) well worth a look. It will covert YouTube .flv files to straight .mp3 (i.e. audio only) if you don't want the video as well, which is often just made up of...
