Re: HELP making a guitar cab
You need a little more information to figure it out. Assuming your Bulldogs are rated at 8 ohms each, wiring them in series would give you a 16 ohm speaker impedance. Wiring them parallel would result in a 4 ohm load which your amp isn't set up to handle. This is also assuming your using a pair (not...

Re: El Mano The Show Must Go On
Hey El Mano, your english words describe the feelings well. And Black Betty's tearful notes speak it eloquently. The show must go on and the stage gets smaller. Makes you just want to sing the blues! Knowing it's all inevitable doesn't help either. We call it "goose bumps" and Black Betty ...

Re: mile high music festival
Didn't see the posting. There is a Mile High Music Festival going on 8/14 and 8/15 close to Denver. It isn't a blues festival but Derek Trucks and the Suzan Tedeschi Band are playing Saturday. Last year I believe they had Buddy Guy and Govt Mule. Other artists this year include the Steve Miller Band...

Re: Fingerstyle noodlin'
Like it !! Keep on noodlin' please! I feel your pain on the smoking issue. Like Strummer07 I've quit several times (3). It's got to be one of the hardest things to make yourself do. Last time was close to twenty years ago though. Didn't make me grumpy for a real long time either. Good luck with it! ...

Sounds Great! I think it's worth taking up the challenge of making your own BTs.

Re: Guitar that's a "slow burn"
My acoustic has always been there for me. It's a lawsuit era unlabled Japanese Martin copy made of spruce and rosewood. It's somewhat beat-up but always plays easily. I now have four solid bodys and they all seem fickle at times. The slowest burn has been my little Dean Evo. It was acquired as a bac...

Definitely sounds right slowed down. Just when I think everything is all in the right place somebody throws me a curve ball! S'pose the devil had something to do with it?

Re: El Mano On A Hot Friday Afternoon
Welcome ElMano! Very tasty sounds! I've yet to find the courage to post any of my playing. Hats off to you!!
HBL has steered you to a great site here. It really gives me the Blues (in a good way).

Re: My Hagstrom Done Fell Over!!!
My squier strat will sit solidly on any stand even though it would probably survive falling on a concrete floor with only a little road rash (stage rash?). I need to learn from blindboy where exactly to jump on the neck for re-tuning though. My sg on the other hand will quiver on the best of stands ...

Happy belated birthday HBL! After fifty you can celebrate for a week if you still have the energy! (Don't know who makes up these rules). Guess that makes you a vintage '59?

That first version must have had some awesome natural sustain. Where did you find a strap strong enough to hold it?

Re: Advice from Strat players?
Hey Viking! Can't help on the "blender" function with the first tone pot. Interesting idea though. Think I'm gonna look into it. I dedicated the lower pot to the bridge pickup and put both the neck and middle pickup on the other tone pot. Most people seem to wire the bridge together with t...

Re: Advice from Strat players?
DO IT VIKING! My experiences with strat style solid bodies were a lot more enjoyable than frustrating, so here's my two cents worth. One plus is definitely the availability and interchangeability of components. If something doesn't work out right a cheap alternative is usually available. I have a Se...

Re: Changing Capacitors?
Small world indeed! I went to college here in the late '60s. Tried to move away but kept bouncing back . It's a beautiful town, but it gets more crowded every year. As far as '59-'60 sounding pickups go I would think '59 Gibson PAFs or any of the aftermarket copies would do what you want. '57 Humbuc...
