Re: GAS Attack !!!!!! Part 2

I've really not had proper time to spend with the Vox AC4TV yet on the recording side of things - only two goes including today. I've been getting some practice in at just playing through it and either the sound is getting better or I'm learning to play through the tubes system better, or mayb...

Re: Teach Me A Lesson

I had wondered about lessons but the journey time, the fitting everything around the weekly schedule, and the meories of how much of a bind it was sometimes several years ago when I took classical guitar lessons was stopping me taking the plunge. I too surrounded myself with books and CDs an...

Re: My Gibson ES-339

I put on the DR Pure Blues nickle strings today and that made the tone even better than before. It added a new liveliness and presence to the sound. I don't have enough experience to compare strings yet but I'll try a few different kinds over the months ahead to learn the differences. Lubricating t...

Re: My Gibson ES-339

The neck pickups on all 339's seem to be tilted. The neck pickup on my Hagstrom Viking Deluxe is tilted too (not that it's close to being in the same league as the 339!). The neck angle to the body is more than the angle of the body surface bt the neck join - the pickup is pretty level with the bod...

Re: Eric Bibb Touring in the UK..& comin to Germany

More dates .......VB , can you make Edinburgh on Friday?? .....well worth it !! Hi Strummer. Glad you enjoyed the concert. I've listened to a fair bit of Eric Bibb the last few months and liked what I've heard. I admire anyone that can play acoustic blues guitar well - a very difficult t...

Re: My Gibson ES-339

I love the tone of the Gibson semi-hollow body but I find my Fender Strat easier to play. I've been trying to figure out why. The Gibson and Fender types are very different and the world seems divided into those who get on better with one or other of them. I've had probably about the same n...

I've often thought when hearing you play that you've been "cooking with gas". Now we know that's true.

Re: GAS Attack !!!!!! Part 2

I see now what people have meant when they talk about the extra dynamics and tone of a tube amp. Generally speaking you are right.. still when I compare my CT to a tube amp I feel it acts and reacts the same as the tube amp does  I guess what I said should be extended to cover get...

Re: GAS Attack !!!!!! Part 2

Now wait till the neighbours are not @ home and turn it up ! I'm still waiting for that moment!! :motz: Still finding my way into this new playing style that an amp like this requires. Only a limited time tonight to play, but for the first time I plugged the Hagstrom Viking Deluxe Semi-Acoustic in....

Beck & Clapton

Dunno if this has been linked before - I maybe missed it if it was or my memory's playing tricks again. :oldie:

.................. Now what was a saying again?

"You Need Love" got my toes tapping, and Becks "Where Were You" is a powerful piece.

Re: GAS Attack !!!!!! Part 2

 Great sound VB.... a little different sound for you and a little more up-tempo... but then again, you have proven yourself as a very versatile player. I really like that clean sound. Blindboy mentioned that this amp a tube amp... part of the reason for this different sound??? The mic placem...

Re: GAS Attack !!!!!! Part 2

Hurry with the demo. about mic recording, put the mic off center slightly towards the rim, pointing a litle to the center. I think I put the mic a bit too far off centre. :wall: If I understand it right, the further off the centre of the cone the more hiighs are lost? The recorded sound here has a ...

SWEET!!! Not much inspires like a really cool amp. :amp: :music2: Looking forward to hearing some VB through a genuine tube amp. Thanks BB. GAS Attack !!!!!! Part 2

This has to be the end of GAS for a while - funds dictate it ends now. 100_2359Min.jpg No surprise to anyone who knows me that my first all tube amp should be a Vox! Fell for it big time at the "Live Music" shop in Edinburgh. Add the Electro Harmonix Nano Holy Grail Reverb and Vikin...

Re: Amazing grace with a twist

FWIW (not a lot!) here's a couple of attempts on the Amazing Grace BT. Unlike HBL who does great justice to the real melody and gets proper variations on it, mine's much more loosely approximate. With the Tokai:- http://12bar.de/community/download/file.php?id=74 With the new "Vintage&quo...

Re: Open mic update, and call for information

Hey BB - I sympathise and understand your worries. if it's embarassing to put your guitar playing into public view then vocals are ten times worse. :shy: I wish I had a magic formula, but I'm struggling with the singing myself - the last recording project crashed and burned due to vocal problems. :m...

Re: Amazing grace with a twist

VB, shall I upload the backing with the original piano lead ? That may make it easier to play around the original vocal lines. Done : http://12bar.de/community/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=90&start=0 :bb: Thank you for doing the upload HBL - I've been very busy at work today and haven't had a chance...

Re: Amazing grace with a twist

Shows that great skill of the good blues guitarst to make their guitar solos relate to the vocal line. I'm thinking too that this will be a lot trickier than it sounds - sparse arrangement, slow tempo and your technique and note choice is high profile and has nowhere to hide any of its imperfection...

Re: Mannish Boy Blues collab anyone?

Nice set everyone - well done! VB, that Hagstrom sounds great... You should get it out more often. I like the Hagstrom's sound - it's just I'm a bit lazy and it needs extra work to play the notes compared to the Tokai which sort of plays itself. Mab eit just needs some more at...

Re: Shuffle in G w/slide and strat...

Still trying to get the hang of the GuitarPort and Audacity... :wall: This time I am givin up on tone and trying to layer a couple of tracks along with a backing track (sorry, I don't remember where it comes from). This isn't easy. :icon_whoknows: Trying to get levels balanced is one thing. I am do...
