Re: Boost my solo please!
Not unlike perhaps to the Blackstar HT-Boost. Quote - "The HT-BOOST’s high voltage gain circuit is like adding two extra hot valve stages to your amp so, unlike with inferior battery powered products, you don’t lose any precious dynamics or tone. Add to this an all-valve cut and boost tone sect...

Re: Remembering songs
Just a thought (which could be pure garbage) - if this a problem with doing other peoples songs - maybe if you try to put together songs of your own the chord sequence will make more sense as you've created it. :icon_whoknows: In a way a bit like lp1holl said "Change chords when it feels like i...

Re: Strat Project Diary
Looks good. Getting the wheels in motion on sending you that neck. It should fit OK, but the screw holes might not line up with the holes in the body. If that is the case, you can fill the holes in the neck with maple dowels and wood glue. Then clamp the neck into the body and use the sc...

Re: Strat Project Diary
Cheers everyone - I'm waiting impatiently for it to arrive and assuming the worst meanwhile, like it goes under a lorries wheels or gets lost in the post etc. :mercy: Looks like it'll fit whatever you wish, as far as pickups go. SO it's all in the open still... :D No hardtail, though, but you can of...

I think she's recovered. We'll have a more thorough check and play in the morning.

My Hagstrom Done Fell Over!!!
That was a panic - I was setting up the amp in the living room, and the Hagstrom sitting on it's stand on the other side of the room flung itself on the floor. :yikes: Not something you want a set neck guitar doing, even onto a carpet. Seems to be OK - gave it a try - just out of tune (I hope). :thi...

Strat Project Diary
I did promise Strummer some sort of photo diary. So by way of a preview ....
On it's way (I hope - as it's been paid for).
Currently thinking hard about all the other parts.
Watch this space.

Re: Slow Bm Blues BT
Hi there VB Well done ....I think you've done as good a job as possible .... and I mean that as a compliment. :D this is a tough BT to bring alive and whilst I didnt know the ZZtop song .it probably (for me) works better as a song than as an instrumental . If you count the voice as an extra instume...

Re: Advice from Strat players?
Well - things are starting to take shape. I've managed to locate a good price and quality (I think) used alder squier strat in red. :D I'm slightly suprised I liked the red - normally I find it a bit too much "in your face" but on this body it looked good. It has had a 6 screw vin...

Just FYI - this is a ZZ Top backing track - Blue Jean Blues Great song.....real good bt. Thanks Thanks for the info Lzy Blue - I didn't know. Good to hear what it should have sounded like - I think I prefer their version! I found it quite a deceptively tricky BT - very slow t...

Slow Bm Blues BT
Some guys on another forum were playing around with this BT - I found it quite an interesting one. Not the usual 12 bar blues chord changes so it can take a few plays to stop the lead playing moving to the notes of a chard that wasn't arriving. http://12bar.de/community/download/file.php?id=176 Here...

Re: Advice from Strat players?
I have a Squier Tele Custom with P90 that had a string through body and hardtail bridge. At the time this guitar was a basis for some "custom project", I ended up carving a comfort contour at the back, replacing the PU's, routing the body to accomodate for a vintage strat bridge with the ...

Re: Advice from Strat players?
I'm sure with your thoughtful approach you'll come up with a knockout ax. I'm looking forward to updates. Re: Advice from Strat players?
That first version must have had some awesome natural sustain. Where did you find a strap strong enough to hold it? Just my tribute to Pablo Picasso and Cubism. That is a nice looking slab of wood. Turned out pretty handsomly (is that a word?) too. Might try a grain filler before f...

Re: Advice from Strat players?
The main negatives normally of a no-name neck is knowing if it's any good - with your recommendation that worry dissapears in a puff of smoke. Keep in mind, I said "decent". I have never played on it, but it looks straight and the frets and fingerboard look OK, so it should play all right...
