Re: GAS attack strikes .. and Happy Birthday !!

Happy Birthday VB ...GAS attack strikes again Eh !! ....Well, you just never know when it gonna creep up on you !! :yikes: How long was this attack in its 'appearance ' ..or was it sudden ?? Thanks Strummer. No, not a sudden attack I'm afraid - several weeks of wondering and surfing looking at gear...

A new blonde in my life

I don't know what my wife must have thought when I said I wanted a blonde for my birthday. :yikes: Here she is. 100_2357.JPG Nothing "special" - just a Vintage brand V2 Reissued (or TC200 as it was once catchily called  ). I used to have a TC200 a few years ago and it got sold in the pursuit of...

Re: Blackheart Bitmo mods demo (transfered)

Ok :D I recorded a quick one. I started with doing some rhythm stuff on 2 guitar tracks, then added the organ. Edited the bt and played along while turning the reverb mix pot. - on the back of the amp... it distracts :icon_whoknows: anyway, here it is. http://12bar.de/community/download/file.php?id...

Re: Mannish Boy Blues collab anyone?

I did a second take - help me decide? Both are good Cruisemates but if I had to choose I think I'd go with Jondo on this and say the second take works better for me. I think it would stick in the mind quicker than the first - something about it's structure maybe - dunno really, just my g...

Re: Comfort zone/default jam

VB... some cool licks in there. I am a big fan of 7#9 chords too. (I think so anyway. I don't actually know the names of all of the chord shapes I play. :shy: ) I wonder how many players default to the key of E? Kind of you to say so about the licks, but at the same time as you posted the comment I...

Re: Comfort zone/default jam

Intersting topic BB. When I pick up a guitar to try it out I probably end up playing something along these lines [ EDIT - file removed so this next bit's meaningless - and I've played this totally cold to try to recreate things more accurately, lots of warts and all.] :wall: Like you it'll never be ...

Re: Am I Missing Something with Head Phones?

My Vox is supposed to have one "tube"... I'm not sure if it is an actual tube or a faux-tube, but I like the sound. You are right abut the sound, it does sound somewhat different from headphones to speaker. This amp has one other unique feature... on the back is a pot which reduces the power output...

Re: Am I Missing Something with Head Phones?

I managed to do a trial with the headphones before work this morning. No idea how my headphones compare to yours Golfxzq - they're Sennheiser HD201 (nothing special about them - just well reviewed entry level) but they seem to be in the same sort of price bracket as your Koss headphones. For me, I p...

Re: Am I Missing Something with Head Phones?

If I'm worried that noise levels are likely to disturb or annoy others I find practice / playing using headphones can be liberating. It makes you feel you can "go for it" - take more risks and try things you wouldn't normally do. But then I know I'm far too self-conscious about people hearing me and...

Re: Mannish Boy Blues collab anyone?

And here's mine (assuming I remember to hit the submit buton!). Giving "Shiraz" (the wine red Tokai) the day off to recover from the Phrygian excesses. So it's a rare outing for the Hagstrom Viking Deluxe. Hope it'll do - one day I'll record a segment for a collab I'm happy with .......

Re: Mannish Boy Blues collab anyone?

I'm losing the place! :oldie: I thought I had done a post on the thread with an attachment of my segment of the Mannish Boy this morning, but as I can't see it there now I'm guessing I forgot to submit it. :wall: Possibly just as well as I was starting to wonder if I couldn't do better. Now where di...

Re: New Guitar

How is it for weight? Some of us suffer for our art with the Mahogany body boosting the weight - worth suffering for the tone though. I actually weighed it. I weighed myself first and then me holding the guitar. I subtracted the second weight from the first weight and came to the conclusion of........

Re: Caterpiggle Crawl...

I reckon your "Catterpiggle" crawled with great style there BB.  Played with a great sense of timing and rhythm too, and I really liked the tune too - it's a bring a smile to the face piece. I've got it repeating in the background as a write and each time it starts I have a silly grin o...

Re: Mannish Boy Blues collab anyone?

Oops - I'd forgotten about this thread 12bar. If it's OK I'll get along with doing 45 seconds to 1:30, assuming I have no more domestic problems for a day or two. :D

We're presumably looking for 6 players to fill the piece - 12bar, Viking, Blindboy, Cruisemates so far?

Nice collab guys!

Always fascinating to see with blues collabs just how many different interpretations and tones can be heard for what some people criticise as being simple music.

Nice guitar LB and the price sounds good too.  It's true what people have been saying that looking at the lefty guitar when you play right handed or vice versa does screw with the head. How is it for weight? Re: My Gibson ES-339

BB - No, this one is a semi-hollow design and has a center block. It's modeled on the classic ES-335 but has the small body of a Les Paul. Since I'm a little guy I needed the smaller body. People claim that Gibson surrendered almost none of the semi-hollow body sound of the ES-335 when they introdu...

Re: Though...

There's something to be said for smaller profile - some semi-hollows you feel like you're a wee kid trying to play an adult guitar.

I feel a bit that way with my bass sometimes, and wish I'd got a short scale. :wall:

Good that you've found out the answer anyway.
