Re: Amazing grace with a twist

FWIW (not a lot!) here's a couple of attempts on the Amazing Grace BT. Unlike HBL who does great justice to the real melody and gets proper variations on it, mine's much more loosely approximate. With the Tokai:- http://12bar.de/community/download/file.php?id=74 With the new "Vintage" brand "...

Re: Open mic update, and call for information

Hey BB - I sympathise and understand your worries. if it's embarassing to put your guitar playing into public view then vocals are ten times worse. :shy: I wish I had a magic formula, but I'm struggling with the singing myself - the last recording project crashed and burned due to vocal problems. :m...

Re: Amazing grace with a twist

VB, shall I upload the backing with the original piano lead ? That may make it easier to play around the original vocal lines. Done : http://12bar.de/community/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=90&start=0 :bb: Thank you for doing the upload HBL - I've been very busy at work today and haven't had a chance to log ...

Re: Amazing grace with a twist

Shows that great skill of the good blues guitarst to make their guitar solos relate to the vocal line. I'm thinking too that this will be a lot trickier than it sounds - sparse arrangement, slow tempo and your technique and note choice is high profile and has nowhere to hide any of its imperfection...

Re: Mannish Boy Blues collab anyone?

Nice set everyone - well done! VB, that Hagstrom sounds great... You should get it out more often. I like the Hagstrom's sound - it's just I'm a bit lazy and it needs extra work to play the notes compared to the Tokai which sort of plays itself. Mab eit just needs some more at...

Re: Shuffle in G w/slide and strat...

Still trying to get the hang of the GuitarPort and Audacity... :wall: This time I am givin up on tone and trying to layer a couple of tracks along with a backing track (sorry, I don't remember where it comes from). This isn't easy. :icon_whoknows: Trying to get levels balanced is one thing. I am do...

Re: Kossoff Collaboration

Hell yeah!, VB that sounds good! I have no idea what that tune was "supposed" to sound like so I just played what the changes seemed to call for. I think what you played complimented what I played really well (no matter what it was "supposed" to sound like)) I am looking forward to hearing more! I ...

Re: Kossoff Collaboration

Can I echo what Strummer said Bb - that really is a good interpretation.  I've had a go myself but ... I can't get the hang of playing in other guitarists styles, I can't do the Kossoff vibrato, but then I don't have his heavy picks, heavy strings, or as much playing talent in my whole ...

Re: Amazing grace with a twist

I found a nice midi track that I "upgraded" by using soundfonts (in stead of the standard midi sounds) while recording it using my 2nd system. Originally there's a piano playing the lead... that's why I like midi tracks... klick and [mute] Two different appraoches to playing this song. pa...

Re: A new blonde in my life

:handshake: Happy Birthday VB.... another year bites the dust. They say, with age comes wisdom, so I am sure your "Blondie" was a wise decision. She sure is a sweet sounding guitar... that same distinctive "VB" sound as with the Tokai but in a much more "single coil" sort of way. And a beauty she i...

Re: A new blonde in my life

Rolling down on the photo, I thought I'd be seeing "oh well, another boring strat"... but no, it's a tele! :D Congrats! I've been mostly playing my rosewood board Squier tele since I got it a couple of months ago. It's just great. Have always been a big fan of Steve Cropper (you know the "With a li...

Re: Help! Bad GAS attack!

Sorry I haven't been able to contribute to answering your question BB, but I''m under GAS attack myself so much I don't know what to suggest. Part of the GAS has been released but its still not all gone and it's the 5W tube amp question that's still driving me mental too. If I sort out my thoughts o...

Happy Birthday VB ...GAS attack strikes again Eh !! ....Well, you just never know when it gonna creep up on you !! :yikes: How long was this attack in its 'appearance ' ..or was it sudden ?? Thanks Strummer. No, not a sudden attack I'm afraid - several weeks of wondering and surfing looking at gear...

A new blonde in my life

I don't know what my wife must have thought when I said I wanted a blonde for my birthday. :yikes: Here she is. 100_2357.JPG Nothing "special" - just a Vintage brand V2 Reissued (or TC200 as it was once catchily called  ). I used to have a TC200 a few years ago and it got sold in the pursuit of...

Re: Blackheart Bitmo mods demo (transfered)

Ok :D I recorded a quick one. I started with doing some rhythm stuff on 2 guitar tracks, then added the organ. Edited the bt and played along while turning the reverb mix pot. - on the back of the amp... it distracts :icon_whoknows: anyway, here it is. http://12bar.de/community/download/file.php?id...

Re: Mannish Boy Blues collab anyone?

I did a second take - help me decide? Both are good Cruisemates but if I had to choose I think I'd go with Jondo on this and say the second take works better for me. I think it would stick in the mind quicker than the first - something about it's structure maybe - dunno really, just my g...

Re: Comfort zone/default jam

VB... some cool licks in there. I am a big fan of 7#9 chords too. (I think so anyway. I don't actually know the names of all of the chord shapes I play. :shy: ) I wonder how many players default to the key of E? Kind of you to say so about the licks, but at the same time as you posted the comment I...

Re: Comfort zone/default jam

Intersting topic BB. When I pick up a guitar to try it out I probably end up playing something along these lines [ EDIT - file removed so this next bit's meaningless - and I've played this totally cold to try to recreate things more accurately, lots of warts and all.] :wall: Like you it'll never be ...
