Re: Dispensing Pensive
I do have 3 Tanglewood guitars in my collection now (2 x 12 fret parlours with different woods and a 14 fret cutaway super-folk), so I suppose I may just be biased! But here's a few thoughts below. I've never had issues with any Tanglewood I've tried in a shop being difficult to play and the factory...

Re: Dispensing Pensive
Thanks! :D I'm loving the warm and rich sounds from the TW45. The guitar took a few days to get used to DADGAD tuning and reverberations when I first got it. I suspect it had only ever been in standard tuning. Add a new saddle, proper set up and fret redress from a local guitar builder and it's beco...

More good ones guys! Colosseum 1969 - aaah, the days of vinyl and the 40 minute album! :D Dave Greenslade and Dick Heckstall-Smith with very fine work on the title track in particular. Nice fusion music anyway. Bakerloo is a new one for me. I see they didn't stick around for long but plenty of moves...

Dispensing Pensive
There's some blues notes appear in this pensive wandering ... so it maybe just about qualifies as bluesy, if not as blues. A distinct lack of proper form or structure to this playing. The idea was to pensively meander as the mood took me. The recently acquired used Tanglewood TW45 DLX, built...

Floor Jansen - Sweet Curse (ft. Henk Poort) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lU8i2i3v8MQ&list=PL8iSYWeQhlilDPohfKzmFC_wdTOllD3jh&index=10 A Revamp number revamped for a more conservative non-metal audience. Need to hear some Floor every day! Nice to hear a musical theatre guy like Henk do so ...

Nice one Hans - unusual to see Jan take a secondary role! Beautiful piece by Al - hadn't heard that one. Thanks for posting Gerd. Lovely music and a horrible situation. :tears: ************************** My listening is a bit widely spread these days, and a lot hardly features guitar much...

I hope 2022 is going well for you all in amongst all the world problems.
Totally missed seeing this post - must have been all the hectic activity at New Year - nice paint job Fenson.
Hope you're doing well Gerd.

A beautiful and meaningful song and a great message.
Sadly, I fear the concept of tolerance and love is one that all the people who rule the world are incapable of understanding.

Re: Not Blues .... or Jaxx, or Rock ... but
Cheers guys - thanks for that! :D Hope you're having a good New Year! Still waiting for the hand to heal up properly .... possible it won't of course, it's the way of arthritis. Not stopped me playing but I'm sorely lacking inspiration. I pine for those days when technique started to come together a...

Not Blues .... or Jaxx, or Rock ... but
but never mind. Just popping in to say I'm still here and to say seasonal greetings to anyone dropping by. :xmas_1: I'll just drop off an acoustic piece. 'Noodle-Doodle Dance'. A sort of stately dance - semi-improvised in DADGAD tuning. With a Scots leaning in the note choices and timing of hammer o...

Hi Gerd Thanks for those links - my apologies for taking so long to reply and my absence from here. Life getting in the way and time speeding up in retirement too! I hadn't heard that acoustic Hocus Pocus - Wow!!! Surprised he didn't set the fingerboard alight! I remember the Paco De Lucia combo wor...

Apologies for the long absence from posts - what happens to spare time in retirement! :icon_whoknows: My ignorance is even bigger than i first thought!! If you'd played me that Widecombe Fair without me knowing who it was i don't think I'd ever have guessed it however long I was given! I...

Re: Minor Groove Blues + a n other
:icon_whoknows: You might be right. But I suspect that was back in the days before I took much interest in acoustic guitar - if it was I probably wouldn't have paid much notice. To be honest the only acoustic guitar I own that has a pickup system that's worth using is the Vintage Gordon Giltrap Sign...

Re: Currently listening to...
 Renaissance is a good choice Gerd! Annie Haslam's voice was a thing of great beauty and matched the musical style perfectly. Though I hadn't realised there were two line-ups to the band. I obviously arrived slightly late at the party! I do like a mix of rock, classical and folk, and if th...

Re: Minor Groove Blues + a n other
Thank you! :D I quite enjoyed the freedom of improvising the guitar accompaniment while singing the fixed lyrics. But, it's not happened again yet. Maybe it'll be a one off. :icon_whoknows: The electrics attached to the TW45 include a Shadow P7 EQ unit - I'd never heard of this brand before - it's n...

Don't know why they would be hated either! But there's so much on-line hate about pretty well everything in recent times. Being blocked / thrown out of that group is ridiculous - seems like they have no faith in being able to persuade someone why their own views differ. Typical of how democracy seem...

TW45 Full.JPG The guitar that's new to my collection. In 2007 I bought my first good quality acoustic. A Tanglewood TW45 NS. OM sort of size with a cutaway. Sounded so much better than the others in the shop. 7 years on and i hadn't been using it much - I found it an awkward shape and size with pla...

Minor Groove Blues + a n other
About time I tried something at least slightly blues on a recording. Acoustic guitar - tuned to DADGAD - minor blues. Based on an arrangement by Rob MacKillop. but butchered / arranged by me. :music1: Minor Groove Blues.mp3 If I can just throw in a non-blues recording too. First vocals for a year or...
