Re: voodoo chile

Hey, thanks drockadam.

12bar, I was trying to get the intro down the first 10-15 seconds. The Winwood/Clapton version intro sounds the same or very similiar to the Hendrix version.

Thanks!

voodoo chile

After coming around and really liking Clapton and Winwoods version of Voodoo Chile, I wanted to learn the opening licks but couldn't find it online at the usual sites. Anyone else have that sequence? I'm trying to figure out if that beginning is all guitar or if there's bass in there. Anyone?

Re: Crossroads 2010 Festival MOVIE!!!

Having been there, I don't think they did a good job of capturing how hot it was...jk. It was really good, I enjoyed Susan Tudeski and Johnny Lang even more than when I was there live. They only got about half of my favorite songs from the show, but thats more of an opinion thing. I wish they would ...

I'm torn on whether to go or not. I mean, it was only a few weeks ago. But then again, why not.

I hadn't heard about this. Now I'm excited, too! I'm hoping those covers he's talking about are all blues covers! Any word on the songs yet?

(and for the record, I do like the hair)

Re: The future of guitars

I tend to agree with most on the subject. The same basic guitar shapes are still being used as in the 50s for the bulk of the market. There will be some people that take to the advances, but mostly there will be the traditionalists that keep it old school. Another question for me is where the accous...

Re: Paul McCartney at Hard Rock Calling 2010

Thanks, Strummer. Sounds like a great weekend. That's a lot of people. It sounds similiar to Lollapalooza here (well, when they changed the format a few years back and stopped traveling it and kept it here in Chicago). I'm still discovering all of the fests here in the States (Austin City Limits, So...

Re: OK _ Who's going down to the Crossroads ??

[quote="LeftyBlues It seems like Eric was going for what he did at the first Crossroads festival in '04. ZZ Top closed the show cause it was in Texas. While it does seem that the closer should be someone with alot of energy, like ZZ Top, BB seemed fitting. But if you asked me... hehe... I would...

Nice, Strummer. I'm not a huge Beatles fan but after reading your review I actually find myself wanting to attend a McCartney show! Can you give us from a the States an idea what the Hard Rock show is about? I've seen an older one with Clapton and Sting headling. I assume its an all day event with m...

Re: OK _ Who's going down to the Crossroads ??

You're welcome, Strummer. I'm just glad to finally be able to contribute to the site a bit. Here's another review from our other paper: http://www.suntimes.com/entertainment/2438350,CST-FTR-cross28.article I agree with this one more. And there's a better pic of Eric. Though I've got to tell you, if ...

I went down to the Crossroads....literally. As you might expect, it was an amazing fest today. We lucked out and didn't get the expected rain, but it was hot as can be. I'll give you my highlights and let any others who attended add theirs: Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks playing Soulshine Buddy Guy ...

Bonammassa ..I'd go for Ballad of John Henry as a 1st pick cd........although many would say Sloe Gin and or Blues Deluxe show him at his best. Take a listen to teh tracks on Amazon .. I'll almost bet you'll go for Ballad 1st .but follow up with S.Gin Thanks, Strummer! I'll knew I could count on th...

Re: OK _ Who's going down to the Crossroads ??

Big time looking forward to the show. Can't decide who i want to see most, luckily I won't have to. I am excited to see the Allman Bros as I've never seen them live. Then the usual favorites of BG, BB, Clapton, Mayer. Also interested in seeing Bonomassa. Speaking of Bonomassa, can someone recommend ...

Re: Damn right I've got the blues

Great vid. Thanks for posting. Funny, I saw Buddy this past Saturday at Ravinia (an outdoor venue here in Chicago) and he ran around the stage just the same as he did in this video. Except now he's in his 70s and has less hair! Quite impressive. And I'm guessing the kid at the 7:50 market is a lifel...

Re: upcoming concerts

Nice. I always wonder if a performer plays differently (either with more feeling, or even the setlist), playing near their home. Like when Clapton plays in England, are his shows different than when he plays a random town here in the States? I've heard that some artists play more of their 'hits' whi...
