Re: Teach Me A Lesson

[from exile] Lessons are a very personal thing IMHO. Some people can learn a lot from a GOOD teacher, while others will loose their interest when learning all fretboard notes until tomorrow 7 pm. If you choose to stay self taught, you need a lot of discipline if you want to step forward. You know wh...

Hard times

As mentioned before, I've started renovating my house, so I can't play guitar (only a bit acoustic) and can't connect to the Internet at home. The cable is cut :tears: , on the photos you can see the freshly mounted chimney (fuel oil is getting expensive, gas not available, it's a country house) and...

Re: My Gibson ES-339

Jim, learning to play and learning something about the technical side of a guitar, which strings, which pickup, what works well etc. is an ongoing process and that's what makes guitar playing such fun, at least for me. I often feel helpless listening to EC's perfect mixture of tone and note. I know ...

Re: What does it take to be a great blues singer?

Well, I wish I could sing, but I'm absolutely not talented, and while you can train hard to get a voice for opera or general classic music, it's hard to do this for Blues. You need passion, sure, you can ruin your health with whiskey and cigarettes, but your main voice is to a big part in your genes...

Thanks - and welcome back!

It's a bit quit currently, I had to fix some board software errors, but I'm still trying to get a decent contribution to HBL's last upload.

Beta: new scale generator

I've modified the scale generator a bit to make comparisons between different scales or chords easier. Just hit "remember" and select a new scale or chord. Both will be displayed. The upper one can be dragged upon the other, if Javascript is enabled. The beta is at: http://12bar.de/php/scale_generat...

Re: Kossoff Collaboration

it is funny bercause blues is not really my thing, although I appreciate the people who can do it. I came to this site originally because it said "Eric Clapton" and he did a lot more than blues. Now it is the 12-bar site. The new name has other reasons, the tutorial is still based on EC's songs and...

Re: Recording guitar with backing track

I think audacity works great. Just open it, load the BT and press record. The BT remains the same, the recorded track is independent and can be processed, if needed. When finished, melt them together or export all tracks. There are many nice shortcuts worth learning, you can loop a part, zoom in qui...
