Re: Last Strat Blues

Selling your strat..... :naughty: BTW, is that your face in the guitar ? I know, was a tough decision but I wanted the Sorrento so have to make room for her. No it must be Jesus in the reflection! Yeah it's me, in my avatar picture that is also me in the middle of Skynyrd. Thanks for your comments ...

Last Strat Blues

I decided to sell my Squier Strat as punishment for spending too much on my Epiphone Sorrento which is on it's way. I bought her in 2008 on Ebay for £50 (a bargain I'm sure you'll agree) and sold her at the weekend on Ebay for £73. I have had two years of joy playing her and I also made a nice profi...

Re: Nerve damage...

Good shot with the nail, had to hurt. I shifted 33,000lbs of concrete on Friday and am a little sore muscle wise especially in the hands and forearms so although not quite the same levels of pain, you have my sympathies. Hope your finger heals up quick, don't rush back to playing too much, don't wan...

Re: Aeolian Video

I had never heard of the Aeolian scale until today so i read up on it, learnt nothing technical because some jibber jabber about Modes and blah blah different notes and roots and diminishing and... anyway, got to the scale diagram, practised in 1 position for a couple of minutes then recorded this q...

Here you go, great song, Orbison-esque and much the same feel as your song

Re: Aeolian Video

Has a feel of Chris Isaak - Wicked Game, very moody and melodic. Not the normal sort of everyday noodling so much more difficult to improv. something. I like the subtlety of the playing and especially the intense concentration and that "oh crap where i am i going with this next" look on yo...

Re: Noodling time is here again

Really nice HBL, has a nice uplifting feel sort of a "everything's going to be all right". I really have to start learning some scales and be a proper musician instead of just blindly playing the blues without any knowledge, then i might be able to come up with some beautiful stuff like th...

Re: Coiled cables

What are your preferences for cables? I started off with cheapo ones and then bought a Planet Waves cable that was like $40. How much tonal difference is there between price ranges and brands?

Re: DeaconBlues improv jam...

Pretty funky stuff guys, so funky in fact i had to join in myself. I think your right about the riff sounds quite like "Money" at the start.
And no i wouldn't edit out anything, the whole thing builds nicely and sounds so real that you wouldn't get it if you didn't hear the whole thing.

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird gets me every time, never would have guessed from my name would you! It's my favourite song of all time. Re: Soundgates!

Most of the Amp Modelling software programs i have include Noise gates, they can be really handy especially on high gain settings. You would never tell but there is bucket loads of horrible buzzing in the background on all my recordings, i just have the noise gate to hide it well. Is there any speci...

Backing Track Requests?

As i have not been the diligent member of the community as much as i should have (blame the ADHD), i wondered about requesting backing tracks. There are certain songs that i DESPERATELY would love a backing track to but they simply don't exist. Now playing along with the original's is fine, but i ca...

Re: A Quiet Collaboration - Part II

Three similar yet uniquely individual takes on the same track. Hearing the different tones was also good, what are the three axes being used on the song? All in all great progress and even greater that you are having fun, making friends and learning something new. Because that's all that truly matte...

Re: Gravitating BT

Really enjoyed my listen to your's Viking, a lot more subtle and laid back tone than mine was. It's hard not to sound sweet playing this song and you really got that across. As i just bought my first guitar with P90's and it's on it's way i was really interested in your tone and i'm looking forwards...
