Rollin' & Tumblin'

Since we can't do covers with the original artist's lyrics, I'll post a bt created by Nick Creswell (I can't remember the URL of his site, lots of good bts and instructional stuff on blues basics) of his version of Rollin' & Tumblin. As usual I start off with harp and let you guys do the rest. H...

Tell Me Mama

This is a fast tempo 12 bar number. It's essentially the backing track to Little Walter's Tell Me Mama (for those familiar with his recordings with Chess Records after leaving Muddy Waters' band to form his own band & a solo career). Since the majority of the collabs and tracks uploaded here (fr...

I like how you came in with the Wes Montgomery octave chording. I just dig how you're 'conversing' with the pianist; You have the jazz vibe Blindboy, keep at it.

Re: Trying For Less

I like the less is more approach. A suggestion maybe is to hunt down some 16 or 24 bar jamtracks for changes that come on later ...Take a look on bluesblast.com and see what he has.

Re: Anyone up for a slow blues in G?

Sorry I've taken so long to respond. Hans, you're the master phraser no doubt. VB, I like both takes - They're different, but since it comes from the heart then that's all that matters. El Mano, nice vintage tone and the playing style suits it too, reminds me of some of the early blues recordings fr...

Re: Anyone up for a slow blues in G?

I will be interested to hear your comments - I had another listen this morning to my attempt - the tuning doesn't sound AS bad as it did yesterday, but now it sounds too ponderous & leaden. :yikes: Hi VB. I like what I heard, lots of nice blues licks in there. I didn't hear anything that indica...

Re: Anyone up for a slow blues in G?

Tomorrow I will make time and listen to the take VB....So tonight I'm just logging in to read the replies. A tip: Create simple melodies (licks) to play along with the bass line and you'll do fine.

Re: Slow Blues In D Collab. Anyone?

VikingBlues, The guitar mix and tone to my ears was perfect - Not too high and not too low - Clean with just the right amount of reverb that blended well with this particular track. You played it right by staying in the pocket 'surfing' along with the track's mid tempo groove....And love how you hit...

Re: Slow Blues In D Collab. Anyone?

Sounds great blues! I think just uploading the whole track is the easiest way to go, providing that the quality doesn't decrease with each new recording. I exported my mp3 track at 128 kbps to make the upload go quicker so if anyone notices the quality starting to decrease please increase the bit r...

Re: Slow Blues In D Collab. Anyone?

A Lawrence Fritts track, nice. Since I play harp I'll lead off and then let the guitarists take over. Regarding how to go about with the editing....If it's alright with the rest of the gang, I recommend after recording your take to just do a minimal amount of mixing to ensure the volume balance is r...

Re: Blowing off a little steam.

You got a handle on your blues licks and phrasings, it tells me you listen and learn from those you admire. Too often many players are playing way too fast making stuff up that don't even come close to blues but more rock and don't follow the groove, but you got that blues soul in your heart and fin...
