Re: Some bla bla bla
I`ve been browsing silently here from time to time. And meanwhile I was working on my latest project. It`s a japanese Precision-bass copy from 1972 that I have refinished and set up so I can play it. I used a small belt sander and sandpaper to remove the thick black acrylic finish off the guitar`s b...

Re: Gasp... Choke....
I once talked to a luthier about the vintage hype. He told me that the 50s and 60s vintage guitars had an increase in numbers of over 90% compared to the numbers of guitars made in the 50s and 60s, which is impossible. So the over 90% more vintage 50s and 60s guitars are well-made fakes. They`re so ...

Re: Little Tweed amp
I have played it now with the amp volume all up and adjusting it with the guitar volume knob. It goes from clean all over to a heavy crunch sound on that setting, all depending how hard I hit the strings. I am quite surprised how loud it is. It has a singing quality with lots of sustain even when pl...

Little Tweed amp
I was at the radio shop today. They have a lot of used stuff there, too. All kinds of electronics. This is what accompanied me on my way home, me having 240€ less than before: http://i46.tinypic.com/14j5gfk.gif http://i47.tinypic.com/29cb9ef.gif It said ", Champ rebuild, 5F1 circuit, 5 watts ou...

Re: Hi
I got a Fender Telecaster with a partly worn down finish and rusted parts. It looks horrible but it plays sweet. Played acoustically it is loud, crisp and clear and through my amp the thing just screams delightful. I have Fender pure nickel wounds on it that bring out the classic Tele tone beautiful...

Re: Forgive an old man
You don`t need technology. I go on kind of a sabbatical from the modern world once a year and into the woods. Just me and a few select fountain pens and inks and good writing paper. Then I write a journal about how I feel in these moments away from civilisation. Getting back to the roots of what`s i...

Re: Forgive an old man
Well, I`m just 34 but I feel quite lost in today`s technology jungle, too. Smart android phones? Apps? Not for me, I`m still using my old Nokia cell phone without an internet connection. I have an MP3-player with dozends of functions and I`m only using the fm radio on it. Until now I haven`t figured...

Re: Do you warm up, and how
When I warm up I use some exercises that I found on a jazz guitar site. They include scale playing, string skipping, even note bendings and such stuff. I play through the exercises very slowly (one note in three seconds) first and when I feel comfortable I speed them up a bit. After a while when I f...

Re: Marshall crunch - how to get?
I have searched on the Marshall website and finally found the manual. The mistake I made was operating all three channels at the same time. Now I only have the Rhytm channel on with the Drive rolled back and get the sound I`ve been desperately searching for. Thank you very much for the tip with the ...

Marshall crunch - how to get?
Hello forum! I`m new to the guitar and I admit that it was no good idea to get a Marshall rack preamp as first guitar amp because I`m struggeling with the thing since I bought it and all I get is heavy metal sounds  . It has four boxes with dials on the front panel: Rhytm Mode: Drive,R2 Voice,B...

Hi
I`m glad I found this place. My name is Stefanie and I`m just starting out with playing the electric guitar. And because I couldn`t find a teacher I`ll have to teach myself how to play. I hope this isn`t a too difficult task for me. I have come here because I want to learn the basics of all popular ...
