Re: Where to get old issues of Guitar Player in Europe?

Actually, for 2001 issue I put a request through to library to get it or a phot copy of the article (from main libraries in Finland or Scandinavia). We'll see, if they get it, I will request the 1976 one too, maybe. Or then I will just buy it from ebay.uk. I have Gp year 2000 issues I bought from a ...

Where to get old issues of Guitar Player in Europe?

I'd like to all possible interviews and articles made about Matt Guitar Murphy (I am doing an article on the man). Found that GP has had a story of him in June 2001 and May 1976. Anybody know where I could get these issues (or rather just the articles on Matt Murphy)? Through Ebay from the USA, it s...

Re: JJ Cale passes away

I think you would be expecting too much from the Styles book. He does give comments on the recording the tune (available at jjcale.org), but the rest is just standard notation, with no reference to solos and almost no mention of chord shapes played. But if you PM your email address, I can maybe dig ...

Re: ..and another one gone .... T Model Ford

There's a loooong list of guy's we roots music fans have lost in the past year or two: http://bluesnews.fi/uutiset.htm

Burnside and T-Model I was listening to a lot like 10 years ago. Should really visit their world (=records) again. RIP T-Model.

Re: JJ Cale passes away

JJ said in some interview that George Harrison (a year or two before his death) said he loves that Naturally album, "have you done others since?" Well, only like a dozen albums, said JJ laughing. Also JJ said that he never really liked Magnolia. But seems that everybody else loves it, so I...

Strummer,
on ec fan facebook:

It was strictly private, invitation only, family and very close friends
and bandmates. Eric did "Cocaine" and "After Midnight;" Don White did
"Magnolia." For a little while, we had Teegarden and Van Winkle and Eric
all playing together.

Re: JJ Cale passes away

I was/am really saddened by this. He was the biggest musical icon for me (my blog is about JJ too: http://pickingjjcale.blogspot.fi/ ). I am VERY glad I flew from Helsinki to Oregon in 2009 just to see him live (4 times in 7 days, actually). Talked to him twice there too. I was thinking of writing a...

4 4 1 1
5 4 1 1

Re: I like a little wine, but not sure I like a little whine

My only concern is will the new amp sound as good? The new one is a SuperChamp X2 as the one with the problem is a discontinued XD. The X2 does have the PC connectivity and works with FUSE software - I just hope that the extra bells and whistles haven't come at the expense of the wonderful natural ...

Re: Gibson SG Classic P90

I had a brand new limited Epiphone ES-335 pro for week or so (a few months ago). Great guitar for the money I say! But well, it was a heavy guitar and somehow wanted rid off. It was easy to sell, only loss was the shipping of 12€ I had paid on it, or something like that. Anyway, I read that it has c...

Re: Barre Chord SOS

Barres sure are a part of guitar playing. You need that tool in your trick bag. You will get better at them, it's just a tough nut to crack, can take months. For E-shaped barre you don't really need the B-string anyway, to make the complete chord (same note on already fretted on the A string), but i...

Re: Barre Chord SOS

Very good points there from the guys. I have always had a problem with the Em-shaped barre chord, because the note on the G-string gets easily muffled. So it then doesn't sound minor anymore. Nobody else actually ever noticed this, I think. The F-barre might be the toughest thing for a beginner to l...
