Lazy Eric

Remembered that Keith Richards once said that Eric Clapton happened to be even lazier than himself, but with all this teaming up with cream, jj cale, winwood, beck and now Marsalis plus making his own albums, he doesn't feel that lazy ... do you think?

Re: Learnin the thrill is gone

I agree, it can be fun to watch a perfect "imitation" of like say "Crossroads", because you understand the hard work of nailing it note by note. But at the same time it seems a bit odd. For practise yes, but in performance? Do they have a personal problem? "I am EC" or ...

Thumb on neck?

Still on my "fluidity trip" I notice that I sometimes lift my thumb from the neck when practising scales, and just play "uncorrect?" without the support from the thumb. How about you guys ? On or off the neck?

dexterity

 During autumn I've been traning dexterity for about 30 minutes almost every night to get the right fluidity and clean hits on the strings. Then I took an unwanted break because of work overload and now I suddenly feel way behind in my movements. Forearm hurts some and fingers feel stiff. Is tha...

Re: What style of guitar is you favorite for electric blues?

I was surprised that the SG didn't get any votes in the voting presented. For me, as being an hardcore Cream fan, the Gibson SG is one of the top blues guitars, and also used by Carlos Santana, Mick Taylor, Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Guy, Derek Trucks and other prominent players.

Re: AAAAAARRRGGGHHH!!!!

I have an 1968 Gibson Special that I bought on ebay - my best buy ever. It's has become an extension of myself. I noticed it hadn't any serial number so I asked the seller. It had slipped and cracked so the whole head was partly remade. (the back side, logo is intact) It's impossible to understand -...

Re: BBs long long note during solo, 10+secs

Cream live at The Grande Ballroom 15 oktober 1967 ;) Review: These recordings contain the some of the very finest ensemble improvisation, jazz or rock, I have ever heard on record. Often performed at incredible tempo’s ("NSU", "I’m So Glad") and almost free form meter ("Spoo...

Re: Clapton's 1 1/2 bends

I use 0.10 - is it necessary to go to 0.09 to make 1 !/2 bends more comfortable, like mike bloomfield, wasn't he also considered a high - bender who preferred super slinkys almost down to 0.08? But having super slinkys do'nt you loose "power" in your overall sound?

Clapton's 1 1/2 bends

I get a feeling that Clapton used high bends, like 1 1/2 step bends more frequently in Cream then later on. Is that correct?

Jam with Itunes?

Has anyone found ways to "jam with itunes", What I mean is - to line into Itunes from Jamvox or Tascam Guitar Trainers or equals, and not having to put together a library of tunes and be able to jump from tune to tune. I'm a mac user.

up or down strokes?

Noticed that I almost always starts solos with an upstroke and was a bit puzzled, must I re-adjust this or just keep on playing I my own way that has suited me fo a long time. Any other "first tone" up strokers out there? I play chords with a downstroke as "the first hit".
