Re: Beano is more important than "they "thought!

Interesting reading.
Just thought I'd make the point that EC isn't the only brilliant musician on the album. John Mayall's influence is sadly under-rated in the history of The Blues.
His bands have been a driving force for generations.
The 'Beano' and 'Disraeli Gears' are seminal. :oldie:

Re: RIP Jim Marshall

One of the good guys. Always ready to chat at guitar shows. I still dream of owning a 'Bluesbreaker' 40+ years on.
His legacy lives on.

Re: Another standard for the Jazz lounge

Nice work Tyblues!! I'm working on "All The Things You Are" at the moment and my (jazz) ambition is to master "'Round Midnight". I've recently discovered how many good DIY jazz websites there are, for both chord voicings and melody lines. I'd never desert the Blues 'though!! :old...

Re: Best value Les Paul copy?

I've owned a Gibson Les Paul -Which is not a patch on the original Yamaha 2000 ('78 mine was), but, to come to the point, the best 'budget copy' ,IMHO, is the Korean made Hohner Professional made in the 80s & 90s. I've always had my doubts about the Gibson/Epiphone quality control, and could not...

Re: Emily tries to play Jazz

Hi Viking, I haven't been around much lately- too busy with retirement activities- so what a pleasant surprise to hear your take on Emily. Your 'light jazz' playing is on a par with mine. I've always found jazz easier to play on the sax than the guitar! Mainly due to gnarled, arthiritic fingers not ...

Re: A question for all you 'lefty' players

Mmm! Very interesting question. My view is: if a child picks up a guitar and holds it the intended way, then that is a 'natural inclination' which should not be changed. Obviously, the same applies if she picks it up the other way around. I'm naturally left-handed, doing all one-handed things with m...

Hey LIVNDEESBLUS.
Just been listening to Pinetop Perkins. Forgotten all about him for years! Great Blues piano and vocals - and again - wonderful to jam along.
Thanks for the post.

I'm going to see him in the UK in November. Strummer is right about Rocky Athos. Others are Greg Rzab, Jay Davenport and the Oli Brown Band. I have seen him over a dozen times during the last 40+ years and I have never been disappointed. He has a knack for putting together superb bands. ...

Hi VB,
many thanks for pointing out Clare Free. I love her phrasing and funky blues style. I'm going to get myself to one of the Leicester gigs!
I suppose Berwick won't be on the cards until she becomes 'BIG'. Still' it will be worth the wait.
