Re: What gear do you regret not having anymore?

My '70s era Fender Flat top acoustic, my BC Rich mockingbird platinum guitar, A certain trumpet I cut apart to get the seized mouthpiece out of it. In retrospect the trumpet was far better than the current 3'rd valve sticks piece of garbage I have now. My yamaha Maple custom absolute drum kit. Nice ...

Re: Makes a change from air guitar .. air drums

That is so cool. I believe quite strongly that within a few years we will just be able to think it and it will produce music. I'd be willing to bet even, that it has already been done. Check it out. I'm too late. It IS being done to a small extent already: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/technol...

Re: Crackles in my amp

Yep I realize that. I let them fix it. It seems to be better than perfect now. The amp was brand new a couple months ago. Time will tell if it happens again or not. I was getting close to taking a sledge hammer to it. I can't afford another so I controlled myself. The tube actually was dim even. You...

Re: Hello, from Canada

Thanks strummer07. I am doing a bit of that. I took a few drums lessons when young and then laid off it for 35 years or so and then got another instructor who was just a great university educated drummer who helped a lot but I learned most of it just from listening to music and playing along and wat...

Re: DIY Drums

This mp3 (compouter playback of the score) should follow that live example perfectly (although the drumming was far from perfect and the sound was bad (the camera adds a buzz to the mix. I generally pipe them to the computer from the mixer and it takes a lot to switch things back and forth. http://1...

Re: DIY Drums

Ok so here is an example of what I am saying. Watch the hi hat on the left and count by that 1,2,3,4. Then watch my right hand on the other hat or ride cymbal and count that out 1,+,2,+3,+4 (one and two and (and so on) watch the snare as you are counting which comes in on 2 and 4 Then watch my right...

Re: DIY Drums

It really depends on the progression and tempo and time signature I.E 3 beats or 4 beats in a bar which can be often determined by listening to the chord changes although as things get more and more complicated this becomes harder to identify. All the added nuances make it harder to determine how to...

Re: Crackles in my amp

I think we have got it nailed down. Today was going to be the first whole day I got to spend on music or at least the morning which is my favourite time to do so. So I got all comfy with my guitar ready to go. Sure enough Crackle city. I measured the line voltage which was a solid 123 volts. Perfect...

Re: No Pain Without Gain

I am Loving that sound. That sounds a bit like a Hammond B3 through a Leslie in the background there too. Whatever it is . it suits nicely. Darn nice guitar playing. It's a keeper for sure. Thanks for posting that.

Re: Crackles in my amp

Last night my wonderful wife showed me a surge protector that she had plugged in by her computer whith nothing else plugged into it so I said what the heck, if and when it happens again, I'll try it. So right oin schedule a half hour into playing this morning the crackling began. I grabbed her surge...

Re: Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out

Oh man I did not. 12bar, you may not realize just how much information you have on this site here. It is endless and thanks for that. Nice stuff. Thanks so much. It's a long old learning curve eh? So much to learn and so little memory left to do it with. heh heh. And welcome to the best blues room i...

Re: Hello, from Canada

Fun is good. I really hope to make a better one from Thursday to Saturday when I will be left alone undisturbed here. I need a day or 2 to practice some of this new great stuff you kind folks have been suggesting first. Sliding down from the C to the B and on, sounds absolutely heavenly when used wi...

Re: Crackles in my amp

Yes, no doubt the breaker blowing was a spike of some sort. It happened twice in a row, one right after the other on the same day. The third fuse has lasted a couple months now but it's the cracking and snapping it does over my nice clean sound that bugs me. That's a pretty good looking unit there. ...

Re: Crackles in my amp

Yes I am familiar with UPS devices. I had one once. It cost $450 and after about a year the battery in it died. I was hoping for a cheaper solution but yeah. if it Is low voltage I'll have to look at something like that. When it happens again I'll measure the voltage. The problem also popped the fus...

Re: DIY Drums

I think this is a fairly simple example of me following a 12 bar pattern I wrote in. A bit busy for blues but watch the left hand high hat and listen to the bass and snare in the main beat section.

The beginning of an effort to play something

I had forgotten I did this back one day in July when I took a break from building a shed, Bought my Gretsch 5122 and tried to do the rythm/Lead and drums in one go. No computer involved. Just me on the three pieces. I had not much of a clue back then but it is what it is. I enjoyed trying to do that...

Re: Hello, from Canada

Yeah I figured that was the problem. I could break it up but really, I'm here for guitar mostly so it's not that important. Pretty much anything I write is from my own heart and mind. I don't play covers or use other peoples songs at all. My goal has always been to be as original as possible. I have...

Re: DIY Drums

The beauty of the notation program is that you can put in accents and ghost notes (soft notes) easily as well as crescendos (gradual increase in volume) and decrescendos (softer) and you can spread the length of time it takes to gradually go from loud to soft so with a bit of tweaking one can get a ...
