Wow! You're lucky you get to have him in your life for so long. I hope you can celebrate with him.

Fathers Day

Most kids think that their Dad is the coolest. We were lucky that it was the truth. Dad taught me to shoot, ride horses and motorcycles, drive, back a trailer, clean fish and small game, wrench on cars and bikes, repair guitars (brother Jesse took that one a lot farther than I did), and many other t...

This is one that we have been covering for some years now. I think I'll try to learn "Such a Night".

Back in the saddle...

My wife Miriam and I spent the month of April traveling, camping, and kayaking around south Texas and southern New Mexico. I may have pulled out my resonator guitar twice all month. When we got back, the Trainwreck Blues Band was glad to get back together! 59662456_2320677497990103_68407459731451412...

Re: See You In New Orleans Song and possible Collab

I wish I could join in, that sounds great. Miriam and I are leaving today for a three week camping trip and I'll be offline for a while. I am taking my wooden resonator guitar with me, though.

Re: Original Backing, C Min Blues

Very nice!
Listening to the whole thing, I can tell that I should have practiced more (or any...). This was fun. I miss these collabs and am glad that my bass player helped me participate. Now he wants the Trainwreck band to put together a backing track for a collab.

That's fine with me, 12bar. Here's my effort... Played on my '69 SG through my hopped up Fender BJ.

Re: Greetings!

Nice. I'm not sure what the BillM mods entail, but I run a heavily modified BJ. It has a bigger transformer, 6v6 tubes, a custom tone stack, a Celestion G12 and some other mods. It was built with me in mind by a buddy and I love it. It has replaced my '64 Super Reverb, mainly because it is more port...

Cool! I want to hear what some others have done, and I need to set it up with my bass player so it may take a little bit. I am looking forward to this!

Re: Original Backing, C Min Blues

This is SWEET! I wish I had an interface so I could participate. I might be able to get my bass player/sound guy to download it and run it thorugh headphones and mic my amp at the venue we pay on an off night... Do you think you all could add another verse or two?

Re: Your favourite blues record

I don't really have a favorite... I do still remember my dad bringing home Taj Mahal's Giant Step/De Old Folks at Home album in 1970 when I was seven. I loved that album then and still do songs from it whenever I play a gig. Playing along with the Beano album helped me move from playing scales to ac...

Re: The price of playing the blues

Playing the blues has been a lifesaver for me. I've played blues guitar for most of my life (I should be better than I am) and there have been times that having the outlet that playing blues provides has been the difference between making it or not. The day my father died is a good example. I was fo...

Welcome to the forum. I live not too far from you (compared to most members) in northern NM. Good luck on your blues journey. The classical training should help more than hinder you.

Re: A bit of Blues & not of Blues

I like both of these quite a bit. As Fenson noted, the origina blues men didn't worry too much about time signatures and consistent measures. Your recording setup sure captures the tones of your acoustic guitars very well.

Well, I may be posting music again. :fingerscrossed: I was given a Line6 UX2 interface last night. I need to see if I can download the software for it from Line6 and get it working with my computer. If I can, I'll download Audacity and start recording again.

Re: The Life Timer Emptied

Glad to hear that your new faithful friend is settling in, and sorry to hear about your two losses - two in one year is really tough, and for one to be poison is simply horrible. Well, Mark, I'm sad to have to say that we lost Dakota today. We woke up this morning to find him paralysed from the mid...

Re: The Life Timer Emptied

I'm so sorry for your loss, though I'm glad that you still have a small companion. We lost two dogs in 2015 (one to poison, one to old age) and held off on getting another until this spring, when we got a dog from a rescue shelter in Santa Fe. He, of course, took a period of adjustment, but has now ...
