Re: Public Domain Blues Songs - Free To Record
Thanks a lot - that gives us a lot more great songs to play with. What's your source for "confirmed"? It's called the Public Domain Information Project, with webpage on http://www.pdinfo.com/ which feels rather trustworthy. Besides, if it's written before 1923 it should be automatically P...

Re: Public Domain Blues Songs - Free To Record
"Forty-Four" or "44 Blues" should be public domain. There are recordings of it with vocals in the late 1920's, but it was concidered a standard already in the early 1920's, and I can't find a copyright owner. Back then it was instrumental. Please verify. "Good Morning, Schoo...

Re: Slow Down Blues 3
So you're say you're having the blues - and that tells in the recording. Lots of expression, very well played! I relistened to this right when it was finished. Hope you feel better soon, I know how those deps can be horrible.

Re: First recording by me.
Thank you! It probably boils down to having equipment that is quite well. I'm not pluging a cord straight into a standard PC soundcard. I have that Zoom R8 which is quite powerful for its price range. I had a few retakes, too. I'm surprised how well the slide sounded on my guitar, cause the action i...

First recording by me.
This might not be the best ever all around quality. But this is the first time I actually manage to record something, so you're witnessing a bit of history. ;) I got me a new porta and a new amp the other day, and felt like testing them. I have an Epiphone Les Paul Standard. Played it through a Zoom...

So, through the amp then. Excellent.
Should I get some effects or pedals, or can one simple have plugins that takes care of that?

Re: Splanky, great blues
Oh. I thought I was supposed to plug the guitar right in. I did that two years ago or something on my MacBook (think I got the idea from your site, actually), but that result was... discouraging. Of course, no wonder, since it was a second generation MacBook with built-in speakers and the onboard so...

Re: Splanky, great blues
My total gear, so far, is the guitar (An Epiphone LP Standard), and a practice amp (Kustom Tube 12A), and a cord. That's what I have and what I use.

Re: Splanky, great blues
Now we're talking. That's a great guide! But shouldn't I get an external audio interface / audio card? I've noticed that the recording quality is, to say the least, questionable, and that there is a lot of latency - in other words, sound lag? Other than those auxillary questions, I will have a lot o...

Splanky, great blues
Splanky is a song by Neal Hefti, that Count Basie turned into a great big band swing piece. The form is a jazzy 12 bar blues, complete with all those extended chords and substitutions and everything that jazz musicians like. I found the chords in a book and ran them into BiaB, and also played along ...

Hi from Sweden!
Hello from Sweden Wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I am 31 years old, live in Stockholm, Sweden. I was plucking a guitar a bit since I was in my early teens, but it wasn't untill my very late 20's that I decided to take up somewhat seriously. What happened was that it was Christmas eve, and me...
