We don't worry because We're Sitting on Top of the World

Hello again, Folks who have been around 12bar for awhile will remember that Strummer07, Golfxzq and MojoJim have posted a few collaborations over the past three years. The three of us met on 12bar and started working together and posting to the forum when we each began to learn blues guitar as a ser...

Re: Updated 1 Mic pos.

Another interesting perspective on out-of-phase frequency cancellation is to consider what happens when you double a track and slide one copy by a few milliseconds to fatten the sound. If you shift the second track by 2 ms. that would put the two copies exactly out of phase for a frequency that had ...

Re: Recording but not on a PC

I looked into SD cards when I bought my snapshot camera. As I remember, SD cards are rated by class according to read/write speed. I seem to remember that Class 6 was the fastest type of card. As you shop for SD cards the description should indicate the speed or class of the card. I bought the faste...

Re: just saying hi

:welcome: from another retired guy.

It's a common story on this forum that somebody played guitar when young and is now returning to take it up later in life.

You'll find a lot of company here.

Re: Blinded b/t Blues V3 and V4

Judge #2 checking in..... With the reverb applied the lead seems to fit with the background better. Without the reverb I felt as though there were some guys playing rhythm a few feet away and a guy playing lead about six inches from my nose. With the reverb the lead is still clearly on top of the rh...

Re: Blinded b/t Blues V3 and V4

Thanks for the input, HBL. I'll have to do some experiments to see if I can get close to what you described. I don't have the gear (or playing ability) that you have but I can run my Strat through my Fender Super Champ XD, then a Shure SM57, then a Presonus Firestudio Mobile and into my DAW. I shoul...

Re: Blinded b/t Blues V3 and V4

HBL, great piece of music. Very nuanced, very subtle in places. Very sophisticated in overall construction. I've got a technical question. How did you mix the lead guitar? When I play the piece the rhythm parts nestle appropriately in the near background. But the lead part has terrific immediacy. I ...

Re: VB heads for rocky shores with his e-band

Very cool playing, VB.

The tone and the choppiness of the early part brought Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits to mind.

A pleasure to listen to.

I love this!!!!!

HBL's original playing was great. But the addition of LolBlues' vocal totally transformed it into something really special.

Terrfic stuff. We have many fantastic influences on the forum right now. I appreciate them all.

Re: Why did I delete...

I totally support the deleting of those posts. The content was sort of OK but the tone left me with a very uneasy feeling. We have such a civilized forum here with the usual approach of someone new introducing themselves and their history, telling us about their rig, posting a sample of their playin...

VB - that's some very good playing and a great bit of blending guitars.

But you do realize, don't you, that not even a native speaker of English can say the name of the piece - at least not three times in a row. :haha:

I believe that 5E3 is one of the Lawrence Fritts backing tracks.

The whole set of Fritts backing tracks should be commonly available.

Another take on Soul Blues

Here's another take on the Soul Blues backing track. Played (in order) by MojoJim, Golfxzq and Strummer07 this is the latest offering from our small collaboration. It started as a small project for us to demonstrate and to checkpoint our skills to each other. But the more we worked on it the more we...
