Re: Blown Away by Joanne Shaw Taylor ......

I have both the JST CD's you mention Strummer and love them both. I would love to see her live.

And Detroit...a great blues town. Very underground. I spent the first 18years of my life in southern Michigan. Lot's of rock & roll grew out of the Motor City as well...

Re: Gentlemen, it is my duty

M&A have been a favorite of mine for a few years now. The description of their music by leftyslim was right on the money... "gutsy, grooving, down-and-dirty countrified rootsy blues". Their recent album "Flood" was preceded by 2008's "1861" and "Floyd's Market&...

lp1holl...if you are going to buy your guitar in Dallas try Charley's Guitar Shop on Royal. Just a small shop but freindly people with a pretty good selection of guitars and a great selection of amps.

Re: Buying first electric, need help

I definately agree with all the recommendations above. But I wanted to throw another one in here that hasn't been mentioned. Five years ago for my 48th birthday my boys (then 9 and 13 years old) bought me this (the red one on the left) http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx161/Wildwood_2010/846005.jp...

What does it take to be a great blues singer?

Most of the great blues singers I know of have definately had some pain in their lives. It seems they are able to draw from that to get the soul and feeling and angst needed to belt out a good tune that is believable and sincere to the listener. Even though blues is not necessarily always sad and st...

Re: Eric Bibb Touring in the UK..& comin to Germany

Great clip Strummer...

I am going to track down "Bookers Guitar". I love acoustic blues. I have been concentrating so much lately on electric blues that my acoustic guitars I think are feeling neglected. Time to change that.

You can certainly see/hear the Taj Mahal influence...

You guys look very happy. My second wife (it took me twice to get it right) and I will celebrate our 23rd this year. It's amazing how quick the years go when you are with the right person.

Here's to many more happy years...

Re: Open letter to members of 12bar Forum

Very insightful post BB... I gotta say that of the three blues guitar forums that I frequent this is by far the best of the bunch. The other two are so large in membership that it can be hard to develop any kind of personal cohesion amongst the group. Don't get me wrong...there is something to be sa...

I really like this topic cruise...like Strummer says it's a great way to build up our lick libraries. I haven't written much tab but I'll give it a shot. /// = slide ~~~ = vibrato (b) = bend (h) = hammer on (p) = pull off (m) = mute Here is a little intro that I like... 1 ----------------------3~~~-...
