Re: Freddie King Inducted to Hall of Fame
Just got finished listening to "Freddy King Gives You a Bonanza of Instrumentals" He is one of my favorites and often overlooked. I love his earlier instrumental dance stuff as well as his 70's stuff like "Burglar".

Re: What are you listening to now?
Yeah he has a couple of newer releases on vinyl. I also have his Live Bootleg Series Vol. 1 on vinyl. New releases on vinyl are few and far between but I really like looking for old blues albums that you can't find on cd. My favorite find is a 1969 release, Earl Hooker's "Hooker N' Steve" ...

Re: Rory Gallagher Irish Tour 74 Blu Ray
I've also never heard him on the radio, except a few times on satellite and on a local public radio station... it really is a shame. Haven't we heard enough Foreigner on the radio to last us forever? Exactly. But that's what got me into blues and not just blues-rock. I got tired of hearing th...

Rory Gallagher Irish Tour 74 Blu Ray
I just picked up the Blu Ray edition of Rory Gallagher Irish Tour 74. All I can say is wow! What a player. And the filmmaking was excellent too. No crazy edits or camera zooms like the Cream Farewell Concert dvd. I just started listening to Rory about two years ago and can't believe I never heard of...

Re: Ladies and Gentlemen - The Rolling Stones.
This was on tv a few weeks ago and I recorded, but still haven't watched it yet. I'm with you Kiwi, being a child of the 80's I just remember Mick dancing around with Tina Turner  . I do like the Stones, have a few CD's of their 60's and 70's stuff, but I've never been that big of a fan. Maybe...

Re: Saw Johnny Winter Last Night- Pics Inside!
Thanks bluesfreek. It was awesome to see him and he is still one of my favorites, even if he can't play like he used to. I have been trying to get pictures at the concerts I have been going to, but didn't take my camera to Buddy Guy as they didn't allow professional dslr cameras at his show. I was a...

Yeah Deacon I noticed your avatar pic. I've seen that pic somewhere recently. I am reading Johnny's biography "Raisin Cain" and I believe that picture is in there.

Re: Saw Johnny Winter Last Night- Pics Inside!
Well I've seen Buddy twice and he surely doesn't disappoint. Last year I saw him he had something wrong with his foot(he had some sort of walking boot on) he still came out into the crowd to play at the end. I am seeing Buddy again in 2 weeks and can't wait!

Re: Saw Johnny Winter Last Night- Pics Inside!
Frank Hannon of Tesla opened the show and played some great slide guitar. I was never a fan of Tesla but he can really play. And the second act (I can't remember their name) were great as well. Johnny was really the worst of the three bands. My wife who is not a blues fan even commented on how much ...

Saw Johnny Winter Last Night- Pics Inside!
Made the 2 hour drive up to Sacramento last night to see Johnny Winter perform. Overall it was a good show but there were some low points. Johnny's vocals were not that strong and he seemed to lose the groove with his bass player who was giving Johnny some looks like "What are you doing?" ...

Re: What kind of gear do you have and are you happy with it?
Epiphone Dot with upgraded wiring and Sin PAF pickups. Vox Ac4 amp. I really don't even think about any other guitars. I feel like I want to master that one guitar and put as much mojo into as I can. I also play bass (a custom Yamaha BB300) that I started playing before I took up the guitar a year a...

Re: EC doing small venues
But a tour of really small venues .......Nice thought , would be lovely ...but its not going to happen , unless the ticket prices were up in the thousands. I'd pay $1000 to see him play all the old stuff up close one time. I guess I'll just keep going to Buddy Guy shows when he comes around. $60 fo...

Re: EC doing small venues
I guess I just have to realize also that 90% of the people going to a Clapton show are there for "Wonderful Tonight", "Cocaine" and other hits. Us blues fans are the minority and most fans at his show probably think he wrote "Have You Ever Loved a Woman"

Re: EC doing small venues
I notice you use the phrase .. High Energy and Show ..... H'mmm Eric is Eric ..he's not high energy on stage .. ever !! He lets his guitar and the music talk...he doesn't ( which I think is a pity personally.........but he's not going to change now) Nor does he jump or run about ... Go see Pete Tow...

EC doing small venues
I was at a show at the Fillmore recently and inside there are pictures all over the walls of musicians performances there. At the top of the steps is a nice big photo of Eric with Cream. I can only imagine what those shows were like :yikes:  :music2: (5 sold out nights at the Fillmore end of A...
