Re: STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN
Look I hear you, but I don’t agree with you. SRV wouldn’t want to be treated as a Saint, in my opinion. He took the blues he heard and made it fit him, just as EC did and etc, etc. You mention that Pride and Joy covers don’t do “justice” to the original just isn’t a consistent blues perspective. Is...

Re: STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN
SRV was absolutely one of the greats! And it is extremely difficult to emulate him. I think he brought the blues to a whole new generation at a time when musicianship with soul was not really prominenet. On one hand you had the punk rock thing going on, on the other hand you had the lame and sterile...

Re: Major Scale: get confortably
It sounds like you are on the right track...just don't give up! Regarding Dragon88's point: You have to understand that it is the harmony (the chords that is) that determines what mode you are actually playing. All the modes of the major scale are actually the major scale. The difference is the tona...

Re: What really makes me mad!
I agree that it would be great if -21 could get into all these cool shows. It would be good for the young ones to have the opportunity to hear real live music, and it would be good for the music to have an infusion of young people too. In the US we are way to hung up about alcohol and that's the who...

Terrific! Very good playing and the singing ain't too bad neither! Recording at home can be a pain. I have a small house and a wife and daughter that don't want to be overly disturbed, so I've been going direct into my PC with a m-audio firewire solo(works great, but for somerason installing ...

Re: 6x8 Blues in G - Strat tones before finishing body
Very good tone and tasty playing! :high5: I felt like a slow blues this morning so I took a stab at this one too: http://12bar.de/community/download/file.php?id=368 VB: It's great how different guitars make you play differently isn't it? I usually favor one guitar for a few months and when I start f...

Re: Jazzy Bossa Nova Blues Thing Collab...
Hey guys, nice track and lots of nice playing! I've been busy lately with family and work so I haven't been on the board, and I'm sorry I didn't get in on this earlier. If you guys are still working with one I would live to do something with it. Let me know!

Nice sound and nice playing
And as far as I'm concerned positions 2 and 4 is what a strat is all about!

Like any tool, it's all about proper use. I'm a big Adrian Belew fan,and he uses this to get a lot of his sounds...not metal at all. Check out the stuff he did with The Bears. Awesome!

Re: It's collab time again
I've been sort of unhappy with myself really for my over-reliance on reverb and trying to hide my insecurity by joking that you would be annoyed by the inclusion of reverb. I agree that if overdone reverb is not a benefit at all. Getting the balance right isn't always easy - the more mistakes I'm a...

Re: up or down strokes?
I start with a downstroke, but I don't think it really matters. One of the great things about guitar is that everyone does things a bit differently, don't you think? I agree with 12bar, if it's not a problem don't worry about it.

Re: It's collab time again
What a great track, and nice soulful, playing everybody! :alright: I just couldn't resist giving this one a go! The tone isn't what I would like, as I'm going direct, once again with the Yamaha SA1100 with Gibson P94 pups. I decided to start out with an octave thing, to break up the single note stuf...

Re: Two Chord Challenge
Thanks fellas!
I'm not a country player by any means, but I was going for that sound. Those chords just kinda scream country to me. You can hear a couple times where I got a bit tripped up too.
Since it's in G in nice to have all those open notes...the pentatonic scale in the first position.

Here's my entry. It's a pretty long track so I cut it down to about 2 minutes.
