Re: Finally!!!!!

Really nice playing, nice sound. So then will come the tricky part, replacing them. Obviously there is no access to the inside of the guitar, anyone have any advice about replacing them. Do you think it would be easier if i wired and soldered them all up first then put them into the guitar by feedin...

This is looking better and better

I like the drill press idea to dress your fret. Did you put super glue in the fret cavity like someone suggested? (sorry cant remember who suggested that)

Re: Relicking the FrankenStrat

I love the look of your guitar BlindBoy. What is so lovable about it, is the fact that it is done overtime with no intention of bringing it this way. It is like us, it is getting older and in some way prettier. It screams experiences. It is in fact a reflection of your accomplishment. I wish someday...

Re: SRV Project Diary

Nice job! I, like Vikingblues, don't care for the "relic" fad, but yours is a replica, not a relic. And a durn fine one too. Thanks Blindboy. I myself like old guitars, the way there worn because they were played alot. I would love to have one that is worn because of my playing. But your ...

Re: Grounding????

it buzzes on all five settings. The buzzing either totally, or almost totally, goes away if I touch the strings, the bridge or the input jack. Sounds like a grounding problem to me. I have read that faulty cables can cause this problem but I have played this guitar with three different cables all w...

Re: SRV Project Diary

To make sure this guitar sounds as good as it looks, I brought it to my luthier. Here's the final look. 9.jpg 10.jpg 11.jpg 12.jpg 14.jpg 15.jpg 16.jpg 18.jpg I sold this guitar shortly after completed. I was lucky enough and was able to buy a real Fender Artist Series SRV guitar. I will talk about ...

Re: SRV Project Diary

This is a really nice neck, but it looks way too good compared to the body. I now need to make this neck look old. Off I go with sanding paper 500 grit and an hour or so of rubbing. I then burned the headstock, smack it with a screwdriver and applied decals. I finally applied ebony tint on the wear ...

With the benefits of the sale of an other guitar, I purchased all the missing parts I needed to complete the setup. After the Bridge, I received the neck that I bought at wdmusic.com. 1.JPG I selected the SRVJUMBO model neck. It's a neck that has a 12 inches radius a rosewood fretboard and 21 jumbo ...

Re: SRV Project Diary

Any good fan of Stevie Ray Vaughan knows that his guitar was fitted with a left handed tremolo in honor of Jimi Hendrix. This means that any self respecting replica requires a gold left handed tremolo bridge. So with the proceeds of the sale of an other guitar, I purchased a Fender Gold Left Hand Tr...

Re: Grounding????

I believe that shielding shouldn't be an issue on a Les Paul copy as long as the ground wires are connected well and the wires are shielded wires. The humbucker pickups are designed so as to "buck hum" and avoid the nasty buzzing single coil pickup issues. I agree with VB here....
