Re: Help me decide between two Epiphones

I don't have a Les Paul, but from what I found the 50s are great guitars for the Beano sound. They are no Gibsons, but the quality is very good. The Probuckers are Gibsons Burstbuckers equivalent, 2+3 are a bit "hotter" than 1+2, but the 1+2 is a great combi. Yeah, that's what I keep hear...

Help me decide between two Epiphones

After years of owning a strat, I've finally decided to sell it and start having fun in life. I'm trying to decide between these two LPs: https://www.thomann.de/intl/epiphone_les_paul_standard_50s_hcs.htm https://www.thomann.de/intl/epiphone_les_paul_standard_60s_it.htm I know the Beano was a 50s LP,...

Re: Soloing over non-blues progressions

Thanks, I'll try that :D There's so many places you can go to with some of these progressions that it's exhausting to even think about, so I just want to use the blues scale for now just to train my ear and see what flows best. And also I want to work on my agility.

Soloing over non-blues progressions

Do you guys practice this? I find myself mostly practicing standard 12 bar and 8 bar blues progressions, 80% of the time. I need a little bit of thinking before playing over different progressions to figure out where I'm comfortable playing on the fretboard. Do you guys practice improvising over dif...

Re: at last. my ultimate blues guitar.

335s have a center block so they are not real susceptible to feedback. Great. I was thinking of getting one somewhere along the line. the only down side to 335's is the price. you might look at a vintage Guild Starfire IV. for a fraction of the cost of a 335 you are getting virtually all the featur...

Re: at last. my ultimate blues guitar.

thanks for the kind words. even though this was a shallow depth body (2 5/8" deep) there was still a tendency to feedback, especially close to the amp and when you put a lot of signal through the pickups. feedback can be a significant problem with hollow bodies, especially deep ones like a 4&q...

Re: Currently listening to...

He's alright for 75. They're all getting a bit weary. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVyjrozicfE Here he misses his cue on 0:48 for example, but I think it's because he doesn't usually do I feel free and song does feel like it moves on at that point. Ronnie Wood on White room, on the other hand, is...

Re: The PG out of phase sound on a Strat

I'll check into it.I suppose the easiest way would be to switch the hot and the ground wires on the pickup itself.

The PG out of phase sound on a Strat

Okay, how exactly would I achieve this on an SSS strat? I suppose the best option would be to reverse the wiring on the middle pickup, but... where? On the pick up base, on the 5-way switch or the volume pot? Changing it on the pickup base is no option for me as I'm not that skilled a solderer and I...
