Re: El Mano On A Hot Friday Afternoon

Dat is heel mooi! It'll be really nice when the harp is in there too. If you can tidy the end up that would be really neat.

What guitar is that, btw?

Goed gedaan!

Re: Independence Day gig in the village

Very nice indeed. I turned down a job at NMSU in Las Cruces in the mid '90s. I think perhaps I would have taken it if I had known how rich the music scene was going to be in the area (well, up in the hills anyway). Glad to see the number of pick-free players once more boosted. Playing with a pick is...

Re: Durango Guitar Works

Vancouverois: Thanks for the link. I hope this pair of zombies don't actually work for the company. If the spec of the guitar weren't so unusual, seeing - and hearing - those two would certainly have turned me off. As it is, I'm still giving the benefit of the doubt, for now: 24" (610mm) scale,...

Re: Durango Guitar Works

Thanks BM. I checked out the Adam Blacks, but they have a regular 25.5" scale, that's too long for me. I think Vigier's do too, though I'll check them out as well. I guess Yamaha have a bit of everything, though I've never come across anything I like.

Still looking for my 24" HH ...

Durango Guitar Works

Has anyone come across these guys? http://durangoguitarworks.com/ Largely as a result of the warm welcome and encouraging reactions I've got on this site (thanks again, everyone) I'm seriously considering treating myself to a new guitar. I like the look of their stuff especially because with my arth...

Re: Barfly

Crikey! Talk about creative juices flowing.

Just had a listen and it's great stuff. (Do my ears deceive or do I detect a bit of tasteful reverb on the vocal there?)

Only trouble is, you're setting the bar a bit high for the rest of us.

Nice one.

Re: Beauty at Marnies

I find the remix much better balanced, and the reverb really effective too. Voice is still hiding a bit behind the instruments in the first verse, but the overall effect is gorgeous. I think you should post the remix, but what does everyone else think? Btw, you've got me seriously drooling over that...

Re: Beauty at Marnies

Nice. Don't be embarassed about the voice. You should actually bring the vocal track up a bit in the mix, for better balance (perhaps add a bit of chorus and reverb, if you feel squeamish about it - works wonders). That would make it perfect.

Re: Your favorite slowblues

How about "First time I met the blues" by Buddy Guy, with great grunty saxes and fantastic drumming by - think - Fred Below, not to mention incredible shrieking vocals from BG? Or "Going down slow" by Howling Wolf, with that lovely sobbing, mournful bridge pickup playing from Hub...

Home made blues

These are some songs I made on a Boss BR-600, a fabulous machine for those of us who play alone. Vocals are recorded through the on-board stereo condensers on the BR-600, with lots of reverb and chorus to hide some of the imperfections. Guitar is an Ibanez GRGM09 Mikro, completely unmodified (origin...

Re: Greetings

Thanks again everyone for your generous welcome. Blackhorse: Glad you liked Kansas City. That's one I enjoyed doing. When I get a spare hour I'll do a remix with a bit more guitar; it could probably do with a litle bit more, except for the solo. Strummer: Notte tetra (Black night) is, I think (immod...

Re: Greetings

Thanks Vancouverois. "Before you accuse me" is not one of my favourites. I think there are better ones on there. It's at the top of the list because they loaded in alphabetical order. I've now succeeded in uploading to SoundClick (though only at 128bps, I'm afraid). As I'm now totally para...

Right, well I'm still struggling with getting myself organised on soundclick, but in the meantime I've put my stuff on filefactory, as Home made blues - http://www.filefactory.com/f/eb530a1b9cecb9f6/. I've just checked the link, and it works so far. This isn't a streaming site, so all you can do is ...
