Re: Mining the Sea

I found myself walking through the beautiful Scottish Highlands when I listened to it, and it felt good.
A wonderful improvisation, very melancholic. You seem to be able to switch tunings without problems!

Re: Do you use Blues Licks to solo?

I learned by listening and playing to Blues songs, like most of the Blues player once did. Clapton called it woodshedding, playing stock phrases over and over and doing variations. :music2: I do have some Blues books, too, but to be honest I don't use them much. Unfortunately I don't practice enough...

SSL (https) installed

Hi, with FF and Chrome showing an alert on every non-SSL -site I decided to install SSL. Quite some work, so I also updated the forum software. All requests from http will be redirected to http s . This can be tricky, so if you have problems, let me know. Maybe you have to logout and back in...

Still on the funky side...

There seems to be a synch problem at around 1:50, how many takes including backing?

Re: Tutorials

Thanks Mike! The tutorial is about 20 years old, I wrote down what I learned and discovered while trying to tab the songs. There's no need nowadays to get all the books I mentioned, most of this stuff is on the net somewhere, including some great (and some really bad) tutorials on Youtube. Anyway, k...

Specially with this tune, as the goal was just to capture the sound of the guitar directly out from the amp.
Sure good gear, but your setting has a very "acoustic" (rather than electric) sound.

Re: Reaper - 1st try

Thanks! :shy: It’s a lot of fun to add the backing instruments, and modern DAW software is making it easier, Oh, yes! So many possibilities to try, you can spend hours and hours to get what you want. I was familiar with the sounds of my Ignite software, but it doesn't work with other DAWs, so I had/...

Re: Nothing but Blues

I enjoyed JLH from the first day I heard him - he brought me to the Blues with his album The Healer. I got all his records, I even play the same guitar, without pick, sure. To me he was the Blues in person. No fancy chords or notes, just his voice and his Sheraton. I'll try to visit his place...

Reaper - 1st try

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mauaTFEDKC0 The usual boring  video from where I live, this time hiking around the "Eternal lake" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ewiges_Meer ). Very simple, just a repeating picking pattern, some guitar notes and playing over different VST instruments with my mi...
