Re: A fun jam I did on Wikiloops

Maybe we should start a collab together with our latest members... maybe something fusion/crossover from Blues to whatever?

Re: Demonicon [metal]

My son is into prog metal (Haken, Dream Theater etc., I posted a record somewhere here) and musically far more educated, but it's simply not my taste... :icon_whoknows:

learn the intro to Loan me a Dime - Boz Scaggs ...
There are several versions out, the original one from 1969 appears on Duanes Anthology album. It's the better mix.
Duane Allman does the killer guitar playing on it.

Re: Sweet Vibrato - Monster Mike Welch

Even EC changed his vibrato style during the years. In his early years it was more of a BB King style wrist vibrato, later it was a "whole arm" style where only the fretting finger touches the fretboard. Wrist from the 60s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzFm2rEukrw during Cream (from the famous in...

Re: Sweet Vibrato - Monster Mike Welch

Or SRV, he has borrowed a lot from Albert King, but he was still easy to recognize because he had his own style.

Re: Sweet Vibrato - Monster Mike Welch

A bit harsh I think, it's a tribute and for a tribute he does quite well...
Most Blues players started copying but some miss the point when to go your own way.
This is the reason why I like for example Buddy W. much more than Joe B. although he's technically superb.

I found myself walking through the beautiful Scottish Highlands when I listened to it, and it felt good.
A wonderful improvisation, very melancholic. You seem to be able to switch tunings without problems!

Re: Do you use Blues Licks to solo?

I learned by listening and playing to Blues songs, like most of the Blues player once did. Clapton called it woodshedding, playing stock phrases over and over and doing variations. :music2: I do have some Blues books, too, but to be honest I don't use them much. Unfortunately I don't practice enough...

Re: Tutorials

Thanks Mike! The tutorial is about 20 years old, I wrote down what I learned and discovered while trying to tab the songs. There's no need nowadays to get all the books I mentioned, most of this stuff is on the net somewhere, including some great (and some really bad) tutorials on Youtube. Anyway, k...
