Re: EC - Still got the BLues

I wasn't having a go or knocking EC, just for me Gary was a one in a billion guitarist and this was one of his signature tunes that he played so amazingly. I simply meant Gary for me is the best and the song will never sound the same again, apologies for any confusion.

Re: EC - Still got the BLues

Was nice of him to do a tribute and everything, but the song just doesn't sound the same without the blistering lead guitar to me though. And that organ sounds like the elevator version of the song.

Re: Smooth it Back

I think you achieved your aims. You lost me on the technical part of the scales and changes but I do know it sounds good, very splinter group.

Re: Give Up Living (All Over Again)

Ah good point, yes I didn't think about that either. Might get away with it on soundclick as all the music is an original composition. You could always add my other song to the playlist if you like :D.

Re: Here's Where I Go

Thanks BB, glad to be back too. The more times I listen to this song, the more I find fault with it. I think the acoustic could have been recorded better for starters and the second part of the solo needed more reverb. Does the ending work? Not too sure. What it definitely needs is some form of drum...

Re: I'm back...

The one thing I would say you have much is improved on is your blues faces ;). It ain't blues unless it looks like your having a hard time on the can.
That's one sweet sounding guitar, you must be pleased as punch to get it back up and running after all that time, congrats.

Re: Another New Guy.....

Hi Chris, I've just returned after a lengthy absence myself so I missed saying welcome to you when you joined. So uh...welcome. You have some great gear and I'm looking forward to hearing your stuff. If you get hold of the Lawrence Fritts backing tracks which are free and no copyright then you can u...

Re: Give Up Living (All Over Again)

Wow thanks guys, didn't expect it to get added to the playlist. VB...I spent a day in America with the keyboard getting all those parts recorded and mastered and was really happy with the feel of it, even the drums worked fantastically because they kick up a notch just as the solo does too. Thanks y...

Re: Here's Where I Go

Thanks VB, I wanted the same sort of feel to the song as Greeny's "Out Of Reach or "Closing My Eyes". I had no idea what I was going to play on the solo, I think it took 3 takes, the first two finding out where to go and the third what you hear just fell out. If I'm going to have thes...

Re: Oh Gee Major

I don't know who invented it, but whoever it was is a git, why is major so much harder than minor to play. I listen to Greeny and B.B. do it with ease and switch between major and minor just as easy, yet it always trips me up finding the right note choices. You can bend just about every note in mino...

Here's Where I Go

I've been busy again this evening. I jotted a few words down in America then finished them and came up with this complete song tonight. It is called Here's Where I Go, it's about me and I wanted to get across a feeling of being alone and a solitary mood, hope that comes across. Not sure if I can say...

Re: Anyone had luck on the lottery recently?

I bet it sounds like crap, you could either buy that or for the same money buy Peter Green's '59 Les Paul....hmm hard choice. As for the strings, I'll stick with $4 ernie balls thanks. In fact I'd rather have this off Ebay: 1997 Gibson 1960 Reissue http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/Laceyboo/196...

Re: A simple blues

The worst thing someone can do is try to be something they are not. A song like simple blues is much better to listen to than someone trying to play what they can't. There is nothing wrong with this recording, the blues is all about note choice and simplicity, I enjoyed listening to this and didn't ...

Give Up Living (All Over Again)

Further to my video post yesterday, I worked on a studio version of the song with obviously much improved audio quality. I used Lilianne into my Fender Princeton 65, through an Alesis Mixing Desk, recorded in Adobe Audition. As some of you know this is my favourite song and although I didn't seem to...

Creating Drum Parts For Songs

Hi guys, I would like your opinions on the best ways to create the drum parts when recording a song. I have tried using basic drum generators on line and not got what I was looking for, I also have a CD of lots of drum samples but putting them together to make a full song seems like a very time inte...

Re: Oh Gee Blues

Mike - I really like your take on this. The Epi may be heavily modded but if it's "destroyed" it has to be said it's not been at the cost of losing any tone - that sounds more like it's been enhanced. As a keen fan of Mac-era Peter Green I find it difficult to imagine not loving the sound...

Re: Update On My Life

Thanks guys, don't worry as I said music is the only good thing I got so I won't be stopping playing. The main reason I recorded this was I plan on going out and playing and singing live at some point so I wanted to record this knowing I was going to be sharing it with the world to add that bit more...
