Re: The lost art of transcribing

Hmmm... actually, I'm more into songs than into artists... Clapton got some nice ones that probably are not to hard to figure out (Before you accuse me, Nobody loves you when you're down and out)... I think you're right, I should just work my way through my favorite Blues songs (maybe sorting them b...

Re: Blues box?!?

Wow, thanks for the quick replies! @ Vikingblues:That's what I got to know as Blues boxes, too, and I also did not find it to be very good name for fingering patterns... I think the BB Box is that what makes most sense for me as it's really a comfort zone although you really have to know your moves....

Blues box?!?

Hi! Could anyone tell me what's meant by Blues box? Is it the so-called B.B. King position, which as far as I know is based around the second inversion of a maj chord (e.g. in the key of A the notes g and a on the second string and c and on the first string) and where the King himself bends and vibr...

The lost art of transcribing

Hi! Don't worry, this won't become another of those threads discussing the why's and wherefores of transcribing, I think the advantages should be communicated in the Blues community by now... that being said, I have to admit that I myself am still hiding in my comfort zone of tutorials, running in c...

Re: JJ Cale passes away

Hey Guys, thank you very much for the replies, it's much appreciated! Weelie, this is a very gentle offer, I'd indeed love to take a look at some pages of the book (and I do actually prefer sightreading to TAB because I try to learn it a little bit better - so why not start here ;) ). Strummer07, of...

...oh yes, there is, but it's hard not to get lost, distracted or even discouraged by those gazillion "free" lessons. However, Rafferty has some DVDs out - check the text below the YT vid!

...I also love this tune as it is really good to learn something about harmony (chord structures and their inversions, scales, arpeggios etc.)... and you can noodle around until your cat gives milk as it is in Gmaj/Emin only w/o any key change... here's a take of when I tried out several chord forms...

Basic question regarding Blues guitar skill development

Hey guys, I just posted this question on another forum (John Ganapes' BYCU forum, where I also post my progress with his tutorial book series) - but as it is, the revamped forum still doesn't have many visitors so I didn't receive an answer yet... as I assume there are more than enough players aroun...

Hello everyone!

Hello everyone! Glad I found this place - this is really a great web site, the impressive effort to put something like this up just for the love of it is much appreciated! You guys and gals at the Forum seem to be very nice, too... About me: I just came back to guitar playing after a very long time....
