New Egnater Rebel 20 Head With Homemade Cabinet

I got a new Egnater Rebel 20 amp head about a month and a half ago.  I made a 1 x 12 pine speaker cabinet to go with it.  The cabinet is a wide panel Fender type.  I made it originally for a Fender Deluxe Kit, but ... uhh... I changed my mind.  It has an Eminemce Legend speaker.

The rig is working out great!!  The sound is really nice.

The Egnater Rebel 20 is a 20 watt tube amp with two different sets of power tubes.  It has two 6V6's and two EL84's.  You can dial in how much to mix the output from the two sets of tubes.  Turn the mix knob all the way left and it sounds like a Deluxe Reverb (6V6) type amp.  Turn it all the way to the right and it sounds like a Blues Junior (EL84) type amp.  Turn the knob to about one o'clock and you get a mixed sound thats really smooth with a little chime.

There's no reverb, but it has an effects loop, and I'm using an ElectroHarmonix Holy Grail Plus pedal in the effects loop.  I'm not using any overdrive pedals or anything else.  It also has an attenuator, which works pretty well, but makes it a little muddy.  I tried it a few times and don't use it any more.

When I play with my jamming buddies, I have the master almost all the way up - about say 9, with the gain knob at about 1 o'clock and it just absolutely sounds so sweet I can't believe it.

Here's some pix with my Gibson ES-339:

Re: New Egnater Rebel 20 Head With Homemade Cabinet

I agree with HBL and Strummer!  Very, very nice looking job....very professional looking (you're not a pro, are you?)

I like the overall appeal of your rig.... very much a 'blues' setup.  Would love to hear the results.

I heard the words as I closed my eyes down on my, down on my bended knees.  It fit like a glove and I realized somethin' good's happenin' to me.

WOW, this amp/speaker combo is everything you need.
And your "home made" cabinet looks better than most cabinets made by wellknown manufacturers..

I must get a "real" speaker cabinet for my modified 5 W Valbee Tube amp (6.5" speaker) ....
I have tested it  through a marshall 2X12" (with greenback speakers) cabinet and its sound soo good.

Re: New Egnater Rebel 20 Head With Homemade Cabinet

I made another 1x12 cabinet.  This one is a clone of the Egnater Rebel 1x12 cab with an Eminence Governor speaker.  The cab is a closed back type with ports in the baffle.  It sounds great with my other cabinet in a "full stack" arrangement.  The open back cab with the Eminence Legend is very American sounding and the new cab has more mid and low end and is more British sounding.  Here's some pix:

Re: New Egnater Rebel 20 Head With Homemade Cabinet

Wow!  When I first saw the pictures the work looked so professional that I thought, "Well, when he says he "made" the cabinet he must mean that he bought a kit of pre-finished parts and screwed them together".

Then I started looking at the details more closely and I could see that it was all original work done from scratch.  I'm very impressed with the design and particularly with the workmanship.

Outstanding job, BBP.  thumbsupthumbsupclap
