I just wanted to let you all know that MAC died suddenly last Saturday.
He was only 52 and loved playing the blues and uploading his efforts here.
Rest in peace my friend!

I feel very sorry, R.I.P. Mac. 52 is a very young age, although many of the bluesmen we love died at a very young age. My condolences to his family. He was a very good guitarist.

MAC was one of the only guys to post anything about my songs. So I appreciate it MAC even though I didn't know you.....Rest In Peace.

Very sad news, Mac was a big part of this site and a great guy it wont be the same without him. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Such sad news. MAC always had kind and supportive words for all forum members. He participated actively and fully in this assembly of blues players. He shared his blues playing without reservation. MAC always seemed eager and excited to be moving forward with more blues playing. He added greatly to the energy that creates the sense of community that we all feel here. We will all miss MAC.

It is with great shock and sadness I read this news. I have not been a member here long but MACs posts and recordings have been a highlight - always interesting, passionate, and full of energy.
My thoughts and sympathies are with his family and friends. RIP MAC.

What a bummer ! Poor old ( or not so old as it turns out) MAC
I too enjoyed his posts .. so will miss him.
Kinda brings it home what a virtual family this blues website has become !!
Thanks Judas and do pass on condolensces to MAC Relatives .
I hope his friends and relatives remember him in style ( a slow blues in a minor key of course!)

I've been staring at this topic in disbelieve.. shocked.
Mac, allways there, reading, posting, listening and creating.... one of the friendliest people I got to know over here.
Mac, bluesbuddy
you leave some giant spaces in this world.
Rest in peace, you will be remembered by many, no doubt.
12bar will never be the same
bye
/Hans

Shit, it's a stupid thing to say but thats the only thing that comes to my mind right now. MAC always contributed here and was fantastic for this site, he was a part of this forum for as long as I can remember. It's horrible news for anyone to get. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. Is there anything that we can do for his family? I know it's early but on the motorbike forum I'm on when a member passes away we try to throw a couple of dollars in the families direction to help support them in what will no doubt be a difficult time both emotionally and financially. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

I'm still shocked. A few days ago I played on a collab with him. He posted 98 songs in the Blues room, thats a quarter of all songs ever posted. They all showed his deep love to the music.
Man I still can't believe it. MAC, we will miss you.
A tribute to MAC, a slow minor Blues is a good idea. But right now I'm too shocked and sad about this. Anyone here who knew him and/or his family personally? Maybe we can do something together for his family.

I am so shocked and saddened by this news. MAC was one of the first posters to welcome me here when I joined this forum just a few short weeks ago. I always listened to his songs in the Blues Room and really loved his style. I am not sure what else to say other than MAC you will be missed. My thoughts go out to his family and friends.
RIP

Me too, unbelievable!
I was really observing how much better his playing was getting recently. He was a perfect example of how you can start at any time in life and make excellent progress! Next time somebody tells me that "I'm too old to start playing guitar," I will speak of MAC, his tremendous advances and passionate heart! Say hi to Freddie for me pal!!
RIP!

OMG!!! I thank Hans (HalfBlindLefty) for letting me know this in an email. I was here yesterday - I think it was yesterday as time just STOPPED - and I was going to come back a little later on, but .... OMG.
I have listened to SO many of his contributions to the Blues Room and loved them all, and I agree with alaskabluesguy and others that have seen his musicianship improving and he seemed to have a true love for the Blues and life, and this... I just can't believe it and it's hit me between the eyes like a brick or- and NO pun intended here, a Mac truck (which is what they're called here and that's a common phrase we use for just this feeling, so please no one think I was making any kind of joke, as I'm not laughing about much right now). I didn't expect someone who seemed as vibrant as he, younger than me, to have passed away so suddenly, and I have no idea what happened, so if anyone does find out, please let us know.
I would like also to do something in his honor, and playing something would be a very nice thing to do. I was, before I saw Hans' email, playing (on the acoustic) "Tears in Heaven", which is surely what's happening now. But God is happy to have MAC with him, but he has to cry as well at our enormous loss. I wish there was a way we could do a group collab on that song, but the only way I can think of it is for me to play the basic song with no lead stuff in it, and other people add on their own melodies, as EC does when he played it live, usually himself and another player with him playing the other improvised melody on top of his playing. THEN again, Mac WAS LIFE and IS LIFE in his music he left us is FOREVER so maybe it should be a HAPPY Blues, a major shuffle or something like that to CELEBRATE his life and to say he'll ALWAYS BE WITH US! I'll let the rest of the forum decide and choose IF they want to play something for MAC and if so, what kind of music. I probably will play and video record "Tears in Heaven" for MAC on the acoustic, but that doesn't have to be a collab starter unless you want it to be.
I have to go out now for a bit, and I'll be back, and probably forget this happened while I'm out, as I still can't believe it, and then be in shock again when I get back, but I'll be back.
God bless you MAC, THANK YOU for enriching ALL of our lives and for leaving us with SO MUCH of your music that will KEEP YOU WITH US for as long as we listen! MAC is ALWAYS a MEMBER of this forum, and I think a special honorary title should be given him, instead of "new member" "frequent poster" "moderator", etc. that honors him and still has him as a MEMBER (not a former member) of US, if that is OK with the rest of you. I'm not good with words, but I'll try to think of something.
RIP my friend - forever!!! - THANK YOU!!!! - God is the lucky one now!
