I've finished a jamtrack generator, see http://12bar.de/backing_midi.php
Test phase, any suggestions welcome.
It doesn't claim to replace a band, but at least it's never drunken and doesn't need to be payed.

Gerd,
Looks promising, I tested on my laptop, but....ehhh I think the laptops soundsystem isn't up to it.
This evening I'll give it a run on my home systems

Gerd,
I used windows media on my Craptop. All the notes where chopped off.
I have given it a run on my main system and it works fine ![]()
The save function is giving me a 1 KB output.mid file and that isn't seen as a valid midi file
I uploaded it to your ftp in case you like to have a look see.

Cool Gerd!
It worked fine for me -- really nice utility! (but with a new baby, you really shouldn't have time to do things like this...

I just today decided I wanted to play along to a backing track, but I didn't want to fuss with finding files, downloading them, testing them out, etc... I figured it would be ideal to just play them from the browser. Sure enough I stumbled upon your site's backing track generator and I love it.
My only reservation is that I want it to play endlessly. I tried both the Windows Media player and the Quicktime player and neither seems to allow for looping. Is there any way your site could remedy this situation? Perhaps by allowing the user to select how many repetitions they want generated? If I could tell it to generate 4 repetitions then that's 48 bars to jam over which is a lot more fun than having to push play again every 12.
If there is an option to loop forever in one of the players, then I'd love to hear about that too.
Thanks.

first!
The tracks are already set as endless loop, on the players I tried they play that way. You can also set manually the options of your player to loop/repeat (ctrl - T for media player) or download the midis to play them offline.

Admin,
I'm having a spot of bother with the backing track generator. Once I've submitted and press play the track appears to play but, I get no sound. If I try to download the track it downloads fine but then "WINDOWS" says it can't open the file. Am I doing something wrong?

I've tested it on several systems, so what system do you have? XP? Can yo play other MIDI files? Which player?
You might download a quicktime player (it's free) and use the quicktime option.
But unless your system isn't messed up with improper codecs, the windows media player should do fine.
Anyone else having problems?

Works fine for me Gerd

Hi,
I'm running XP. Just tried to download a midi from another site and got the same response.
"Windows cannot open this file. Windows needs to know what program created it"

Panic over!!!!!!!!!!!
Using the QUICKTIME option has cured the problem, thanks for that
