As I wrote Kalle and I are neighbours, not next door or next street... Kalle lives in Sweden and I in Finland... so there's a sea between us wink

So Lefty u are, and so am I, dunno if it's a blessing or a curse... but sure makes my life more difficult big_smile
Now a days it's easier to get a LH guitar, than it was +30 yrs ago... but,  still  gotto accept, world is not build for us leftys tongue

Re: Hello and greets from Finland

welcome to the forum Pena. It's becoming a bit of a Leftys Club these days - before long us Rightys will be outnumbered.

If you want to know about the blues then stick around and enjoy the ride. smile

Re: Hello and greets from Finland

Welcome Pena,

I'm like 12bar.  I am left handed but I play guitar right handed.  I'm not sure which camp I should be counted in.

I've learned a lot on this site.  It's a very supportive place.

Trust me, it may look cool playing wise, but gear wise, IT SUCKS!!!!

My guitar cost $414 without tax. The same exact guitar for a right handed person..... $350 without tax. It's insane, their is absolutely no difference. Since most of todays parts for a guitar like mine are machine made, all it takes for them to make a left handed guitar is to mirror the patterns that are on the machine. On top of that prices are insane anyways, whatever happened to putting the musician first? lol

Re: Hello and greets from Finland

I always wondered.... guitar requires two hand coordination... and when I first picked up the guitar, I felt fretting hand had the tougher job... so why is it that most lefties still choose the left handed guitars (this is sort of a rhetorical question). When I tried playing golf a few years ago, I was naturally what they said was a lefty, because it was like playing a two fisted tennis backhand, which I've practiced a lot in my youth. But my golf teacher said he was that way too, and changed later, to get more strength in his shots.

Anyway, less lefty guitars are sold, so they cost more. In a way the same reason why you in the States have cheaper guitars than we here in Finland. I bet you lefty guitar would've cost more here as a righty than you paid for your lefty.

Re: Hello and greets from Finland

Welcome Pena from a Spring like Wolverhampton in the UK!
I have a foot (or should that be a hand?) in both camps. I went to my first school in Germany in the early 50's and they made left-handers like me sit ontheir left hand so they would write with the right hand! Result is, I'm writing this with my right hand, but do everything else that is ONE-HANDED with my left. Everything TWO-HANDED like righties!!!!  Still, my kids are both fully left-handed, BUT play guitar and drums right-handed.
I'm politically left Too!!!!!!

I know.. you need to be lucky to get a great lefty guitar.
BTW I'd play 'right' guitars all life long, like Jimi Hendrix did big_smile

While that is a cool picture and playing a righty guitar lefty can work in some cases, it doesn't always work. The strat that Jimi's playing is good for a lefty cause strats are double cutaway and the neck is thin enough that it could be played both ways. When you get to other guitars like a Les Paul where it is single cutaway and the neck is thinner on the bottom and thicker on the top so it's easier for a right handed person to get the frets. I tried a right handed 335 and the neck felt 10x bigger than it actually was cause of the shape. Anyways righty or lefty, keep on rocking music3 amp   THATS A BIG AMP lol

Re: Hello and greets from Finland

I was watching this thread... and noticed quite a few lefties who play right handed coming out of the closet  thumbsup ( I am one as well)
It would be interesting (to me anyway  icon_whoknows )  to find out  as a cross section how many actual left handed players, actual right handed players and those who are left handed but play right handed we have on the site.  There may even be a right handed person who actually plays left handed yikes but who would be that sadistic rofl2
