Tears in Heaven -- WITH vocals - for MAC
is in the Blues Room at :
http://12bar.de/forum/uploads.php?file= … ocals2.mp3
It's always SO difficult to follow HBL (Hans) - especially with the same song! - but I said I would upload this, and so I have. I LOVE the versions Hans uploaded, and I'm amazed that he could play that fantastically after surgery - although I shouldn't be .. that IS Hans, and I believe he could probably play beautifully with both hands in boxing gloves, just by thinking the song! !!
I did say I was going to try and upload an acoustic version of this song, and I did try, but it wasn't to be (or isn't YET) since I'm just not adjusted enough yet to the new acoustic I got (with heavier steel strings) and my hands tired out with multiple takes, so my electric version(s) will have to do for now - and I promise that as soon as I can get a decent acoustic version recorded, I will upload it here. I don't own a Nylon string guitar - but should… as I did study classical guitar (but haven't played that for MANY years).
This is one WITH VOCALS (which are not great, I know, but I wanted at least one version to have lyrics). I think because of the reason behind posting this song (MAC's passing) nobody will bother Gerd about uploading a copyrighted song (as it obviously not for commercial purposes).
If you feel this is a danger to you Gerd, you don't even have to ask my permission - just delete it ASAP - I fully understand the situation you have to watch out for. If you would prefer me to host the song elsewhere and just put a link to it here, that's fine - just let me know, but I hoped one of these might be included on the DVD for MAC (although now with Hans' version, you may not need mine) .
I did sing and play this at the bedside of Mary's Grandma Murphy in hospice the day (maybe 2 days - I forget now) before she passed at age 106, at the request of the family (which is the reason I learned this song in the first place). so this is a very special song for me - and for many people for their own reasons, and I hope MAC can truly feel all the love coming from this forum to him!
MAC - we love you and miss you terribly, and we are all crying, and Heaven is in tears because God knows our pain, though he is joyful that he has you in Eternity with him, where hopefully one day we will all join you and play guitars for ever together - never to be parted again!

Tears in Heaven -- NO vocals - for MAC
also in the Blues Room at:
http://12bar.de/forum/uploads.php?file= … _lead2.mp3
This is the same as the version with vocals, except I removed the vocals track. And it's basically the same audio track as the video of this I have on YouTube, but I added some guitar melodic soloing over it, some attempt at the slides and ornaments usually played on this, often by a 2nd guitarist. I pretty much just improvised over the basic song and no attempt was made to duplicate the vocal melody in the solo - it was just a melody as I heard it in my head.
Again, if you feel this is a danger to you Gerd, just delete it.
MAC - another one for you - you must know now HOW MUCH YOU ARE LOVED!!!!

Awesome Jim, heartfelt playing... and singing.
I like both versions to be honest. The version with lead for some brilliant licks and the voice version for the way you sang it.
Sweet my friend.
I guess Mac's comment would contain

Two fitting tributes for MAC. Heartfelt, as HBL said. I'm so glad you were able to do these.
These pieces show so clearly your feelings expressed in your posts.
Its so incredibly brave of those of you doing these tributes to put your emotions on the line and trust your abilities to get it right for something so important.

Thank you everyone - my friends, Hans and VikingBlues and all who listened, for your too kind words, and if these feelings from me reach MAC as I hoped, then I will have done something worthwhile, for the first time in a long time (because of the job I had - which I no longer do - which kept me working such terrible hours I couldn't do anything of value for anyone else, and now though I have to worry about other things being out of work, I finally have the time to do things that matter - and there is nothing more precious than a true friend, and nothing more painful than losing one, especially one as wonderful as MAC.
God be with you MAC!!!
OH GOOD!!! - I just got word from my dear friend Holly Kirby in England that I can now post a video song (a gorgeous cover of Enya's "Evening Falls" to be dedicated to MAC). She is a talent of immensity that I am thankful every day that she is my friend, as you my friend are to. I put the file up on the MobileMe site I got with my MacBook Pro - and I'm hoping it will play OK from there (there is an option to download the file, which will certainly make it play smoother once it's on your computer). I'll make another post for it - but since I'm mentioning it, the URL to the "album" named "FOR MAC" is :
http://gallery.me.com/jimsig/100180
and it's the only video in there now - but the direct URL to the video itself within the Album is :
http://gallery.me.com/jimsig#100180/Eny … olor=black
Please let me know if you can get to it and listen/watch it OK at this location - if not, I'll move it to another server of mine tomorrow. I don't want anyone to miss this - it's from her heart to MAC's and she doesn't even know MAC, but took my word for what a great person he was (and IS) and so this song is dedicated to MAC from Holly (through me just as a intermediary to make sure the connection was made between them.

Beautiful song for a dedication - beautifully sung and sung with great feeling.

I'm so glad you guys were able to watch that beautiful video! Both because I think it's so perfect as a song for MAC and I also was worried about how the access to the Mac site would be for you guys.
I uploaded it to ... well I'm not sure what to call it - it's iDisk on the MacBook "finder", but you give it an external name (like jimsig) so looking at the whole computer from the top level shows it with that name, and I access it through MobileMe and see it as a Gallery and Albums - "FOR MAC" in this case - which I can see - both as the raw iDisk and Gallery, on my iPhone too, and upload from it as well. But it also syncs with iPhoto and other Macs, and it can be used for general storage as the iDisk or jimsig, like any disk or server space, but it also has the Gallery concept to it - which is broken up into Albums, each of which you can give different rights to - whether files can be freely downloaded from it, or if it required a password, and whether others can upload or not, etc... And it can also sync all the information such as Mail settings, and information between the calendar, contacts, Notes, Keychains, Bookmarks, and Preferences, and even Dock items if you have multiple MacBooks and Widgets, on any Mac, or iPhone or iPod. In my case, whenever I plug my iPhone into the MacBook with the USB cable, it automatically syncs them for the stuff I mentioned that the iPhone also uses, and can save the latest settings in a file on your MacBook, but it can be set to not sync automatically or sync every so often, etc. And I have a ".me" mail account on it that syncs with the regular Mail app and iPhone... and this MobileMe optional package I bought with the MacBook Pro ($99 a year) has 20 GB iDisk space that comes with it, and that's expandable (for more $$$ of course).
So, it's multi-purpose and I really haven't made much use of serving out the albums of videos you can have on it to other people (sharing the Albums) in an unrestricted (no password needed) manner before, so I was a little worried that it only worked for me because I was watching it on the Mac that I had set it up from (and the info might have been cached) and I have administrative rights, whereas you guys might either not be able to get to the Album or the playing might be too slow - but it appears that you can watch it OK, which is great! And as I said, I turned on the option that you can download the file without a password, so if you really like it, that way it will play without any internet traffic being an issue, as it is a relatively large file (almost 16 MB) - . My regular Network solutions domain has 300 GB of space that comes with it, and I have used that in the past, but it's so easy to make something (Video or image) on the MacBook - or get an Image or Video in your mail or download it and have it upload to the iDisk into an Album you make, that I wanted to give that a try (plus I like the idea of being able to set rights on downloading, uploading, etc). It doesn't take audio-only (mp3) files into the Gallery/Album model, so those will either go to the Blues room or another place, my regular server or SoundClick.
I do think it's an incredibly moving song sung in a way that also brings tears to my eyes. Holly has just finished recording her first CD (in a studio - not a home-made on) and is living on the Isle of Wight now and playing at the shows there and gigging more and more as her name spreads. I'll let you all know when her CD comes out (I watched a video of clips of one of her recording sessions, and she really was demanding and didn't let the guys at the studio push her around and make her change the way she wanted her songs done. They occasionally made suggestions to her, and sometimes they made sense and she tried them, but she always had the final word. It was funny because she also created the cover and inside art (photos or her) and put up a bunch of photos and asked a group of us which one we liked and she fretted over that - as well as making the final adjustments and touches on the recording of the album itself, the order of the songs on it, etc - for longer than the actual recording sessions. But the album SHOULD be out sometimes this month, and I'll let you all know when it is -- it's definitely worth getting as I think - even though it's not a Blues album - it' still incredibly beautiful (lots of original songs of hers too - and a lot are Celtic in nature, which I love and her lyrics are wonderful as is the music). So, I believe she's going to be someone you will hear a lot about in the near future - and she's only 19 - so she's getting started at the right time to have a great career, and her fan base is already pretty big.
Thanks for listening and commenting! I'll pass info on to Holly and I know she'll love the input!
And I know MAC would have been in disbelief (as would most all of us I think!) if he had known the level of love that is being sent his way, and it's only right, because he was so active and uploaded so many of the songs in the Blues Room, and was 100% supportive of us when we posted songs or told of things we had done. As it's said, "what goes around, comes around..."
