That's just a little out of my range. (or that of anyone I know)
On my personal Christmas wish list is to finish the fret job on my '52 ES 125 and get it back in action (it's only been a couple of years
) It's no Les Paul, but it is a vintage Gibson, and I miss playing it.

Ouch! That's a couple of years too much waiting, but I can understand the need to do it well. I admire your patience though.
but it is a vintage Gibson
The only thing "vintage" in me and my guitars is me.

WOW! Thats mighty expensive! On my Christmas list I want to finish my work on my acoustic guitar or as I call it the Adam DeRocco Signature D-2 acoustic guitar! I just want a pickup

Hey Blind Boy. I had a 125 and the more upmarket 150 a couple of years ago. For playability, the 125 killed the 150. What a great little guitar. However, to me it felt a bit flimsy. I was too scared to actually gig with it. Do you find the same thing ?

Wow Viking. Where do these turkeys get off asking that much for a guitar. Jesus, it could be hand crafted out of Beyonce's used petrified G-strings and i still wouldnt pay that much.
Just goes to show there are still enough " fat arsed, feeble minded,CEO's ", loaded to the gills with cash out there. Some guitars lead a charmed life eh.

What beggars belief even more pee.gee is that there was another on ebay.com yestrerday for $199,000.00 and two on ebay uk for £111,000 ($185,000) and £100,000 ($167,000) (bargain basement!).
It was the £100,000 one caught my attention, and I thought that must be the highest price going - a couple of quick searches proved how stupid my assumption was!
The £100,000 one has been sitting in storage for 30 years - what a waste of a guitar. As their text said "it was a long term investment" - that says it all, it's not really a guitar.

What recession????? ![]()
Makes my Vox Tonelab Christmas present look a bit unimpressive (especially second hand).
What I do need given to me on 25 December is a stronger set of back and shoulder muscles for the Tokai LC95. Anyone know where I can get these? (And, yes the "Les Paul" tone from the LC95 IS worth getting even with some pain). Anyone out there found that wider well padded straps help at all?

Ah wow tell me. For the last 2 weeks ive had shoulder and arm pain. I tell myself it's probably from over practising on the acoustic. Or too many Marina Orlova vids hehe. But as god was rolling around pissing herself laughing at my pain, she made sure my new Les Paul should arrive spot on cue. Welll...no money on the plate for you this sunday.

pee.gee... I have gigged with the 125. It's a non-cutaway with a single P-90, had no pickguard when I traded a .45 automatic for it almost 20 years ago. It sounds great with a small tube amp for a '40s kind of blues sound, but doesn't work well with a full band. Too much feedback. I never found it to be particularly flimsy, but when I moved out here to New Mexico, the arid climate caused the glue on the braces to give out and the top to collapse.
My dad (an ex-luthier) figured out a way to repair it without removing the back.
By the way, what the heck is an Allens Red Frog?
VikingBlues... Yes, in my experience a wider, well padded strap helps noticeably. We gotta suffer for our tone tho...

Ahhh i had the single cut away versions. Man they felt lightweight to me. But such good fun to play. Hahahaha God i want an endorsement with Allens . Forget free guitars, i want free Red Frogs lol. There a little frog a bit like a wine gum. Breakfast of champions . I know i shouldnt love them as much as i do...but i do lol. Seems you give up one vice and just replace it with another haha.

I see. It must be an Austrailian thing (you are in Austrailia aren't you?) I'll get my wife to get me some, she just booked a flight there for Feb.

There was an article in the Summer issue of Guitar Aficionada magazine that talked about guitars as investments and how they have retained their value better than most portfolios in the Dow Jones Industrials. They looked at five "blue chip" guitars and the above mentioned Les Paul Standard was one of them. However they profiled the '59 instead of the '60 and had the 2009 value at $400K (the 2007 value was $550K and the original list $265). By that comparison it seems like the '60 LPS mentioned above was a bit overpriced. One of the most desirable qualities of the guitar that adds to the value (that the above guitar doesn't seem to have) is the "fat tiger stripes" of the bookmatched maple top.
Way too rich for my blood...
Others profiled were the '58 Gibson Explorer ($500K value, $247.50 list), a pre-war Martin D-45 ($120K value, $250 list), a '51 Fender Broadcaster ($95K value, $169.95 list) and a '54 Strat ($100K value, $229 list).
For what it's worth...

Does it come with picks and extra strings?
All the best,
